The deep ball was there whenever we wanted, but we had no need for it. Everyone was within 7 yards of the LOS.

Rooting for geo south because I don't want anybody but app beating our rival, but that is tempered at this point by the loud minority of crazed geo south fans

I'm in the quiet majority spectrum of app fans, but yes our loud ones would come out, already have started to a little by beating the cellar teams

But that is not saying a lot.....we have a lack of talent .....and are about as predictable as the sun coming up....on offense.....if I were a D coordinator I could have a field day against us......then on D we are not not not good in any phase....

I think it will be a tight game for the first half, but then we pull away late third quarter.

No it isn't. I am just stating that 8 in the box deems the deep ball wide open, and while we dropped two, it was there for the taking SCHEMATICALLY as often as needed. We just didn't because the game wasn't close.

GS is 25th in the nation in scoring defense at 20.9 ppg
TxState is 77th in the nation in scoring defense at 27.9 ppg.

The GS D is a bend not break unit, which drives Eagle fans nuts. Teams get yards between the 20s, but not so much in the Red Zone.

Texas St is one of the strongest red zone teams in the country. It's a matter of getting there though.

Yep. Both teams have Top 3 red zone offenses and defenses in the league, so it will boil down to limiting big plays on both sides and making the other team put together effective drives. We can be a plodding, time eating offense when we need to be.

Just glancing over the statistics the biggest things that jump out at me is the difference in TOP (sometimes a meaningless stat), where Georgia Southern is tops in the league and Texas State is last. With Texas State having a Top 3 scoring offense it seems reasonable to think the Bobcats are putting together quick scoring drives when they do score.

Other than that, the statistical measures are relatively close. Should be an interesting game.

Depends on how you define "Best." I would probably define it as which team held us to our lowest yards per carry average. All stats below are yards per carry.

Ranked by the defenses performance AGAINST us:
Defenses avg on the season | what we gained

NCState 4.1 | GS 5.2 (+1.1)
Idaho 5.9 | GS 6.0 (+.1)
USA 3.9 | GS 6.4 (+2.5)
Troy 5.6 | GS 6.7 (+1.1)
NMSU 6.2 | GS 6.8 (+.6)
APP 4.0 | GS 6.8 (+2.8)
GT 4.8 | GS 7.4 (+2.6)
GState 5.5 | GS 9.7 (+4.2)

Ranked by the Defenses performance against other teams:

USA 3.9 | GS 6.4 (+2.5)
APP 4.0 | GS 6.8 (+2.8)
NCState 4.1 | GS 5.2 (+1.1)
GT 4.8 | GS 7.4 (+2.6)
GState 5.5 | GS 9.7 (+4.2)
Troy 5.6 | GS 6.7 (+1.1)
Idaho 5.9 | GS 6.0 (+.1)
NMSU 6.2 | GS 6.8 (+.6)

NC State was the only team this season to hold us under 6 yards per carry. I'll also add that was our very first game in this offense.

Our best offensive game was against Ga State. The best Rush defense we have faced so far is USA and we averaged 6.4 ypc against them.

Gonna take a lot for that TxSt defense to slow us down. But hey, it could happen I've seen it plenty of times before.

I can vouch for this. TxSt doesn't waste a lot of yards.

I thought GS had a good yards/points ratio but TXST is even higher.

GS is averaging 11.4 points per 100 yards of offense
TXST is averaging over 13 points per 100 yards of offense (crazy efficient)

That comes from having virtually nothing exciting in their own life. I love the Eagles but beating my chest because they are winning would hurt. 04-jawdrop
