Also this week, East Carolina dropped out of the rankings after losing at Temple. The committee did not vote any other non-majors into the poll this week. If this were to happen at the end of the season -- after the committee finished the Top 25 -- it would then separately consider the five non-major conference champions and choose one to represent the group in a host bowl. That team would not be assigned a ranking, and while people may want to know where they are ranked, it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that they would be ranked higher than the other conference champions in the group if the rankings went on long enough. If such a team is not in the top four, it makes no difference where they are ranked. The result would be the same.

It won't be easy, but UC is playing much better football right now: a potent running game and a defense that can make some stops and get off the field. I expect a strong finish.
