USM knows who Rakeem Cato is, but they have yet to meet the human bulldozer Devon Johnson as a RB.
Hate to contradict a marshall fan, but USM won their last d1 game on Oct 18 vs UNT. They also won against appy earlier in the year
Yeah but Appy is still FCS...
If we dont bring our "A" game we could certainly be beat by Southern Miss.

We win games we have no business winning when it could mean big things for our conference brethren (see Houston). It doesn't matter how good you are or how bad we are, it's just going to happen. Sorry about that.
The problem with this, is that in both the 2003 TCU game and the 2011 Houston game, we were the better team and everyone at least expected a good game. Marshall is going to destroy us. If we get Mullens back or if Adamson gets a shot and excels we will have a shot at both our final two games.

I expect Marshall to destroy us, but those 71 Scholarship players Appy has is more than we have after two coaching changes in two years. We are sitting at 61 scholarship players.

That sucks. Want you guys to right the ship and get things back to how they were or better. Don't want you to start Saturday.

This is going to be a bloodbath. We will be down by 21 by the end of the first quarter.

I think Southern Miss is much improved. If our team comes unprepared and unfocused, I could see an upset.

I said before the season, this game and the UAB game may give us fits. USM's D is playing well. Mullins seems like he can throw it a bit. We have had a bye week to prepare and get healthy. It really depends how we start. If we start fast, we'll be fine. If we start like the last two games and have some turnovers, yeah, this will be a tight fit.
With this being USM's homecoming, they will be fired up for sure.

I'm expecting Mullens to play this week.
If he plays, we could win by a few or lose by 20....if weeks goes, bet the house on MU.

No, it's not.
We lost to UTEP by 21 points.
Y'all are WAY BETTER than UTEP (and us).

If MU has to lose a conf. game, might as well be USM/UAB or Rice, our leftover brethren. Hope not, but USM/UAB have been trending much stronger. Rice is the reigning champ and imo the best coached team in the league. Just hope for good games, weather and health for all these upcoming games.

Appy is not FCS anymore than ODU is FCS.

I accept your apology. Although I fear I must apologize to you as well for accepting your unwarranted apology. Hopefully the game is injury free and both teams play to their abilities. With that said, Marshall 48 Southern Miss 17.

I'm getting a feeling this will be a repeat of the last two games.. low scoring first half (like 10-7 or something like that), and then the wheels fall off again for USM in the 2nd half.
Heck, the defense wasn't bad against the Miners.. (again, kickoff return, INT return, Fumble return ... those are what did us in.)
As for Johnson, I expect him to get some of his yards, but everyone thought Dixon was going to run over us in the La Tech game and it didn't happen.. unfortunately, Sokol happened.
I get the feeling the same thing will happen here, Johnson will get contained and Cato will have one of his stellar passing games, starting late in the 3rd quarter.

we are going to have to pressure cato with varying blitz schemes and hope we can still have contain when he takes off out of the pocket.....hell, what I am I saying....we don't have the tools to do that....
we need mullens to jack-off and have the game of his life....matching scores is our only chance outside of cato floundering two consecutive games....
