Hey Marshall, UAB has a bye week before they play the Herd.
And it will be well deserved after these stretch of games ending with La Tech next Saturday at Legion Field.

I think we play better without the bye week. Seems to make teams lose a step sometimes. But hopefully you guys use it to get a gameplan together. Looking forward to it.

Our last bye week was before the FIU debacle.

We need a break. We're pretty dinged up.

We have 32 bye weeks before we host Purdue to to open the 2015 season. I like those odds!

We're running out of teams to beat them herd folk.
I recall making a dark creepy forest metaphor in my poll thread. Well it looks like Kelly Green Riding Hood is going to make it through the forest after all...

That's why I mentioned it. Unlike earlier in the season, I think UAB will benefit greatly from this open date in two weeks.

Late season byes are almost always used to heal the dings of a rigorous season slate. I remember the USM of old, so I will always be nervous about going into the Rock. UAB and Rice will be a challenge and both could hit us in the mouth if we don't come to play.
What most folks forget is that we are not even half way through the conference schedule (with the CUSA championship game). We could very well play 6 of the top seven teams in the conference after it's all said and done. Lots of pot holes left to dodge. Have a great week off!

RE: Hey Marshall, UAB has a bye week before they play the Herd.
I don't think any of us are downplaying the potential difficulty of (1) playing at The Rock with a team that is clearly showing improvement; (2) Hosting the reigning C-USA Champion who is riding a 5 game winning streak); (3) playing in Birmingham where we got trashed two years ago on our way to a certain bowl record - NOT!; and (4) facing the Hilltoppers with their prolific quarterback.
I'm not making a prediction on these four games, one way or another. We saw yesterday what turnovers and weather can do to de-rail teams who may not have taken their competition seriously (although I'm sure their coaches did.) HD76 said it right. We are only half way through our conference schedule. We'd better take each game seriously, and one at a time. There is no room for a slip up, of any kind. And I don't expect USM, Rice, UAB or WKU to hand us anything. We'll have to take it.

Marshall has to be hoping for two things to happen:
1. USM is not making this game their "Super Bowl" of sorts
2. Rice, UAB, and La Tech keeps winning to potentially give the Herd some potential wins against teams with a winning record.
Gonna be a fun stretch.
