If I based my decisions on what happened in the past

I'd be wondering how we lost to an FCS team like Murray St.

I'd wondering how Pete Lembo blew us out again

I'd be wishing we could forfeit the NIU game to avoid embarrassment.

I can give you reasons why we lost to EMU, but based on the available talent, play on the field, and motivation to win, I can't give any reasons now why we could lose to these guys.

Neither will the team (knock on wood). I think that's why we don't have to be worried about the team being prepared for them, or fear some bum rush by them.

At worst, fear that it'll be a tighter game than it should, and not winning 41-13, but instead 34-24. But I can't imagine it faltering So Much. We have more than plenty of time to have the team soak in the X's and O's about them and aim for revenge. That's why I've always marked this as a high % of winning.

Chippewa fan here... As much as I hate to agree with Dip, there is NO way EMU even puts up a good fight against you guys. They are AWFUL.

I'm all for trash talk, but can you drop this crap with Rawls?

Even your own fans know what you are doing. You are setting it up so if WMU does lose to CMU, you will spew some crap about how it shouldn't count because Rawls shouldn't be playing. Just let it go and enjoy what should be a great rivalry game against CMU with some big MAC/bowl implications.

You will sleep better at night not worrying about it.

George, I don't talk trash when it comes to Tom Rawls. I know everything in the Slappy culture revolves around wins and losses, a faux championship cultures, Top 25 program, and other things that haven't existed for ages.

Rawls is a pig who stole an old ladies purse, and used her credit cards. It's not about Thomas racking up yards on the field, it's about WHY IS HE ON THE FIELD AT ALL. It's disgusting that he is out there. He suffered no consequences.

It's not even fair to the poor schlubs like Lavelli who are playing behind him, who played by the rules, and got sent to the pines the second Rawls told the judge, "Sorry sir, I won't do it again" 03-weeping

I don't know if we win or lose. I do know that your beloved Chimps are at the peak of the Enos era in a MAC Conference that sucks. We are a bunch of underling youngsters, with talent up the wazoo. You and I both know what the future holds in terms of this rivalry. Think basketball. We've won 11 of the last 12.

We're 2-2 in the Enos era fielding pretty bad teams, and even with a bandaged together team last year, it went to the wire. With or without The Felon I like our chances. And deep down, so do you............and that's why you're here.

Quote:George, I don't talk trash when it comes to Tom Rawls. .... Rawls is a pig who stole an old ladies purse ... It's disgusting that he is out there.

Oh yeah, that's not trash talk at all. Whether something's accurate or not, deserving or not -- it's still trash talk. :)

Rawls being only gone for 2 OOC games helps Enos save his job. At best it's highly questionable to merely suspend him for 2 games and call it good. It certainly does put a mild black eye on CMU football's integrity. It'd be one thing if it was him being associated with a guy who was shop-lifting DVDs or beer. Instead, he's on the order of FSU's QB and all that.

But, that happens, we have to accept it as part of the game some teams will play. It's not against NCAA rules. We can't cry foul that he let Rawls play and that's why "we lost", if/when that happens. I think there's a good chance CMU will win, unfortunately.

However, with our New Culture, that some old-school WMU fans aren't particularly fond of -- here's some good news: We're also ditching that whole whole tradition of CMU-always-wins-in-Mt-Pee. :) There's always benefits to something, right?

If CMU wasn't having a good/decent year (albeit kind of unpredictable) -- I would say we would win, given how we're rolling. But with Rawls most likely going to be healthy, Pooper Rush getting more sound and rolling well with Davis -- and CMU leading the MAC in Defense -- I put CMU's chances of winning at 60%.

RE: Don't want to curse us, but EMU is a win. So let's talk Chimps
OKAY guys -- on the main MAC board -- it's brought up that Toledo's QB Woodside got injured in the Kent State game. Now they have their 3rd stringer in. Their 3rd stringer looked Bad in the little time he played against KSU.

If Woodside is injured for the remainder of games (or hobbling where he sucks; he was no stah) -- Toledo very well could lose to BGSU & @NIU.

If So, and WMU loses to CMU (but beats NIU) -- we could have a 4-way tie. And by my analysis, WMU wouldn't make the tie-breaker (see below; copy of what I posted). Which is why the game at CMU *could* be huge.

Quote:Same as before. Winning percentage of your crossover opponents. If that results in a tie of two teams, it would go back to their head-to-head matchup...that is if they follow standard tiebreaking procedures.

Quote:If what is said happens (Toledo, CMU, WMU, and NIU all tied with 2 losses):
EAST RECORDS:
Toledo: 2-1 (lost to NIU, BGSU)
CMU: 3-0 (lost to Toledo, BSU)
WMU: 3-0 (lost to Toledo, CMU)
NIU: 3-0 (lost to CMU, NIU)

There would be a 3-way tie for those. OH lordy, the MAC East is so bad this year can't help us, can they?

It then may go: Who has the best record amongst you same folks?
CMU: 2-0
WMU: 1-1
NIU: 0-2

Then -- CMU would go. DAMMIT! (I did this live, as typing out)

Even if it doesn't do that -- how about OVERALL Record?
CMU: 8-4
WMU: 8-4
NIU: 9-3

Then -- NIU would go. DAMMIT!

So basically, the WMU @CMU game means more than just rivalry. If there's a 4-way tie, WMU is not going.

They lost Woodside AND starting All-MAC center Greg Mancz, both with leg injuries: http://www.bcsn.tv/news_article/show/443991

Yes! Woodside was on crutches. Nice! The center wasn't, but not being 100% can only help.

I'm thinking Toledo may lose at @NIU next Tuesday then. And possibly the Wed in the next week after that against BGSU.

We really need to beat CMU. And NOT lose sight of the EMoos this Saturday.

RE: Don't want to curse us, but EMU is a win. So let's talk Chimps
Okay -- better news! An NIU guy on there just informed me that it'd be the EAST opponents' records you played -- not YOUR comparative records against them!

This will FAVOR US TO GO!
Quote:
Quote:I think it's the record OF the East teams you played, not record against them.

Even if you lost to them? (head scratching)

Okay, by that method:
NIU: Kent (1-7) + Miami (2-6) + Ohio (4-4)
CMU: Buffalo (2-6) + Miami (2-6) + Ohio (4-4)
WMU: BGSU (6-2) + Miami (2-6) + Ohio (4-4)
TOLD: BGSU (6-2) + Kent (1-7) + UMass (4-4)

WMU would (possibly, in this realistic scenario) Go! Yay!

So we'd be rooting for Kent to LOSE as much as possible now, and/or Miami to WIN as much as much as possible. And UMass to have a worse MAC record than Ohio.

I do too. EMU had a great pass defense, a run game, and a QB who could pass and run. We had a one dimensional pass, pass, pass offense, that when it was working kept our D off the field. It wasn't working, and our defense literally never left the field. We had more talent, they had the right players to stop our pass game.

This years EMU team has no pass defense, little run defense, and a weak Oline that can't run or pass block. These two teams don't resemble either of the teams in that 19-2 game.

Now I did attend a game at Rynearson where the EMU player were twisting Welches ankle at the bottom of the pile, and eventually he had to go out. I don't know if Creighton has that in his arsenal, but it might be their only chance at a win.

The beauty of Rynearson is you could get a seat right in the front row so you could see the EMU players twisting his ankle, and it was so quiet there you could hear Welsh screaming, "They're twisting my ankle!" Cubit could see it, the fans could see it, only the MAC refs were oblivious to it. It was like a WWE match where the Ref is distracted by the opponents manager.

But despite EMU being horrible all these years they still manage to beat WMU. Likewise very competitive in basketball. Likewise competitive in academics. You still out riding with Nacho playing Little Joe and you playing Hoss?

Well if your measuring stick is to beat WMU once in a while in football, while still finishing in the cellar, they've achieved that.

Yes, they have beaten us once in awhile in hoops. Far more then say the Chimps who have lost 11 of the last 12. None the less, they have finished behind us in the West nearly every year since we went to two divisions.

Yes, we should beat EMU, way we're playing.

Even after losing last three to Hurons.

But don't take anything for granted.

They all count one ('W').

And this one could push us beyond bowl-eligible (six wins) into almost bowl-certaineed (7 wins).

This year, it is bowl-certain. 5 tie-ins. The MAC would have to have 6 teams at 7+ wins. Not happening this year. Our 6th (and MAYBE 7th) best team will have 6 wins. 6-6 teams by rule can't trump 7+ win teams for a bowl.

Quote:EMU has academics? I thought they were just a football factory. Chuckle, chuckle.

Yes. They have a quality math program. They somehow know how to add those in attendance with Amazing accuracy! 03-wink They're very good at carrying the '1'... but not very good at saying "Hey, we won!" after a game.
