MAC West
Only 2 MAC games today, but mac west teams rolled over their opponents today. The strength in the conference is definately in the west and UT has run the gauntlet and is 4-0. I've been down on our guys, but maybe we aren't talking enough that maybe we have had some tough games. CMU and WMU just keep getting stronger. The obvious statement of the day is beat NIU and we control our destiny. Most likely see BG in the championship game?

RE: MAC West
EMU barely qualifies as a college varsity program let alone a member of the west. If we are not up by 35 at half against them we should fire both of our coordinators.

But they do qualify and your accurate description of EMU's shortcomings dilutes your opinion of the West's strength. What we saw today was the best in the West beat the least of the East. But I agree the Eest is far d uperior oversll. Today's results do nothing to support that opinion though. Now if EMU had pounded Miami......

My main point is that WMU and CMU wern't pushovers and we got the W. And the west is the stronger of a weak MAC this year.

RE: MAC West
Emu is the only west team to get beat by an eastt opponent. Wmu has beaten bg. Bsu has beaten akron. Niu with a closeish call vs. Ksu and miami. Toledo snuck by our bugaboo passing team Umass. Id say the top 5 could all be MAC west teams this season...

That's probably going to come down to the other Tuesday night game with Akron hosting BG. Whoever wins is in the drivers' seat in the east. I've been slightly more impressed with Akron this year but that's just like saying I've been slightly more impressed with the Geo Metro than the Kio Rio. Akron has only east opponents left, with Umass at home. BG still has us, and ball state. That blowout to WKU just keeps looking worse and worse.

RE: MAC West
I guess I would be all for dropping the BG game as a rivalry if they keep scheduling it in November at night. What's the point, only a few thousand will be around for the finish. I am willing to bet that less than 10K survive halftime and maybe 3K will be there at the end - even if it goes down to a last minute score to win. I saw people filing out of the glass bowl at the UMass game when we were up by 7 with 6 minutes to go. Why would you sit through 3 hours of a football game and then leave with the outcome still in question? I don't mean a few hundred were leaving, it was more like a few thousand. Must have had to go get dinner out of the way before the OSU game.

RE: MAC West
After Iowa State's close call with Oklahoma we look even better. Probably we're no more tham fifty points worse than the #18 team. Glad we're in the MAC.

We played right with ISU, then gave them the game. That is the high point of my dissapintment this season.

RE: MAC West
I can understand all the love being given to Iowa State around here but the fact remains that they are currently 2-6 and are 0-5 in conference and are in the cellar of the Big 12.

The fact that 4 of their losses were to ranked teams simply tells me that not only can UT not beat a top 25 team such as Missouri this year, it can not even beat a team such as Iowa State that can't beat a top 25 team either.

The fact that at this point UT has to be considered that favorite to win the MACC while ISU is in the Big 12 cellar simply illustrates just how poor the MAC is this year from top to bottom.

Still if the Rockets can win the MACC this year, in subsequent years it will forever count for just as much as winning the MAC in 2003 when half the conference was capable of upsetting a top 25 team.
