5 sacks and 3 FFs for Patt. There's your CUSA defensive player of the week.

Patt was just interviewed. Very articulate and motivated player. I wish we could get these announcers for ourselves.

Great to be +2 in turnover margin against a team so vaunted for its oppotunisticness.

Posted on the ASN Facebook page (even though I hate FB) and tweeted at them how much I enjoyed the work of their crew.

Again, great 2nd half adjustments and another total shut-down by our defense
What were the second half adjustments made by the offense, which once again (same pattern for the past 2+ years) came out flat to start the 3Q. The offense had the vast majority of its yards in the first half, and most of that in the 1Q....and only mustered one sustained drive the entire 2nd half. Either it was FIU who made the defensive adjustments at half time or we simply took the pedal off the metal.

RE: FIU Gamethread
I only listened into the 2nd quarter, while checking in throughout the 2nd half, but from what I could gather from what I heard and scouring the stat sheet and drive summary...
Pros:
- Strong start to game with very aggressive playcalling throughout first half.
- DL totally manhandled FIU's OL from the get-go and never let up, even after Covington went down. Consistent pressure on pass plays limited FIU's ability to exploit us on our deep pass vulnerability (save for the one TD play in the 2nd quarter).
- No turnovers by our offense for the 4th consecutive week.
- Some excellent downfield blocking by our receivers.
- Hairston back to kicking balls out of the endzone for touchbacks.
Cons:
- Offense came out flat once again to start the 3Q (an all too frequent occurrence the past 2+ years). Not sure what we're doing in the lockerroom to cause this. Yes, the opposition may be making the adjustments, but we're doing little to counter them.
- IMO, we took the petal off the metal on offense far too early. Second half play calling appeared to be considerably more conservative than that in the first half....and the game was still very much in doubt.
- Once again, not a single pass play directed at our TE. We've gotten so consistent in this regard (only 5 completions to TEs all season) that the opposition can easily game-plan around it. One would think we'd attempt an underneath pattern or a seam route to the TE at least a couple times a game to keep the LBs and safeties honest.

I have noticed this all season long, to the point that I am no longer surprised.

Probably in the part you missed, but we did try at least two passes to TEs, neither completed. One would have gone for a TD had it not been dropped.

The no turnovers stat is incredible - - very well done! Kudos particularly to DJ, JD, and DD of course, but also to the coaches who have stressed this and stressed this.
I think having the starting TE injured, and then two dropped balls would lead the coaches to avoid this.

Watched the game at BWW in the Village. Just incredibly impressed with the announcing crew all game. Lots of time for Bailiff. He and Patt came across very well. Announcers particularly complimentary of Patt.

Hunt is our TE, correct? He dropped what looked like either a TD or long gain, and was targeted a second time on what looked like a difficult ball to catch (incomplete).
So the 'not a single pass play' is incorrect. In fact they did almost exactly what your last sentence recommended they do. Given results (Taylor's, not knocking Hunt, particularly for the second pass) I understand why they targeted Taylor more.
