Not true. The AQ status was gone at the end of bcs contract. Had it renewed, the aac would not have received AQ status. That was well defined. You were left behind just like all of us.

Any ECU fan want to repost that updated BCS simulation?

If the BCS had one more year, the American champ would be in, and no G4 school would get a spot.

I stand by what I said.
The OP raised a hypothetical "if the BCS system had lasted one more year" which imho means just that, not what would happen if the BCS contract had expired and then been rewritten for a 1 yr. period.
If that had happened the AAC might very well not have been AQ, but if we're talking about something new, the BCS might just as well used a different computer model than the one the OP uses.
Not that it means anything at all in the real world, but I guess it's meaningful in the hypothetical world that the OP discusses.

No, if you want to play that, Marshall, if they win out, would definitely make it in. Remember that any non AQ team ranked in the top 16, and ahead of any AQ conference winner, gets an automatic slot. Marshall, if they don't lose, would be in the top 16 and ahead of the AAC champion.

Banker you are right. Marshall may have broken past #16. I forgot that part of the puzzle. I am not sure a 13-0 Marshall would get there, but they very well might.
To go herd, the lead was if it lasted one more year, not that it was extended for another year.

RE: If the BCS formula had lasted one more year
In fairness, I said if the formula had lasted, not the arrangement. You were the one that brought in the AQ angle.
My frustration with the current system is that there is no system, just the subjective opinions of a very small group of people. You went from a large group of journalists, a large group of coaches, and six complex computer programs down to 12-13 people making the decision. In the previous set up any one opinion, no matter how biased, was diluted and the final answer would be representative of common general opinion. In the current set up, each person's vote carries about 8% of the weight meaning any one person can significantly move the results.
With the amount of money involved it just seems strange that a small group, all with a significant vested interest in specific outcomes, is making the decisions. When you have that you need people whose ethics are beyond question, but you have people like Oliver Luck on the committee. Not only has Luck had a history that included ethics violations when he ran for political office, he's also a man who has said that the state of WV should only have one FBS program based on the size of the state (said just before this season). Is that a person that is fairly going to judge Marshall? Don't think so.
