Good question. S Frazier did say they were entering a quiet phase of fund raising so I suspect they have already made some progress. He does not seem to be the type of person to make a big splash without some confidence that at least some of these projects can come to fruition. It is a bold plan for NIU and I hope that it is more plan than dream.

I have no doubt that SF had ongoing contact with donors like Baresma, Yordon and Chessick during this process. My guess is he has a good idea as to how much each is willing to contribute.

I am sure your right. He would not have come out with this bold a prospectus without knowing he had some coin in the bank. It would be egg on NIU if next week he comes out and says, "better start trying to find money know for this project"
He is too smart for that

I also believe there are some serious talks with a major corporation for the naming rights to both Huskie Stadium and the Convo...

At the right level, that could provide some serious seed money. If any of this is going to come from bonds, now is the time to issue them with interest rates at historical low levels.

So what's everyone's guess on what gets announced first? I'm thinking Stadium improvements (East side then South endzone). West side is dependent on getting Wrestling/Gymnastics to their new building, which is in turn dependent on baseball stadium being moved. I have a feeling that's down the road. Softball/Convo can be done real quick as well, and aren't dependent. I have a feeling Frazier wants to make a splash with the first project though and that is definitely East/South Side.

The East side premium structure is going to close that lot from Donor and student parking for at least 1 season and likely 2. So move the baseball field first. Demo the old field and put grass down so you have the West lot double the size for donor parking. The baseball slide says that the project can be done in phases so I would expect the field to be done with the basics asap then the nice things as money is available.

The Softball field work really should be done along with the East side because it would really be inefficient to finish the East side without the softball entryway also being finished.

The East side should not require much to fundraising, maybe 2.5 - 5mil for naming rights so the project has a good base. Most of the money will come from selling the premium suites and seats. I think we will see the suites and indoor club seats being sold as soon as this spring.

It will be interesting to see if the South end zone seating is part of the East side build or done as a separate project.

If you look at Page 8 of the full PDF, I think it might lay out a rough draft of the order each phase of the plan might follow.

It may be close with the first few but the temp indoor tennis facility is listed after the permanent indoor tennis facility so it cannot be completely in order.

Also #13 football game day parking would be done as soon as the baseball field was removed.

The suites and loges have to be first because athletics needs the revenue. Those seats will also help bring in more donations to obtain the seats and sell season tickets. Its a no brainer, they have been sold out at UT ever since we have had them at Savage (basketball) and Glass Bowl (football) The Glassbowl has had the suites and the press tower since 1990, so that is 25 years of more donations, revenue, and season tickets ever since they got added.

I agree. Buffalo is doing the same thing building the club seats and loge seats first and it will eventually fund everything else on the athletic plan. Unless you have a donor that's going to pony up a lot for a different project.

There is federal money for more handicap accessible which is immediate and great for the future with boomers. All of our big donors need tax write offs per usual but there was a mention there are a "couple million dollar level" donors involved. Corporate sponsorship is one thing. Also other corporate sponsors over a long period of time will be needed and that is something new for NIU which should really help.

Bids wills start to come in and it should be fun. I would imagine the bond being done ASAP before the fed makes more changes as they did on Thursday and Friday. We are supposedly off the sauce of QE infinity and serious changes in bonds/asset purchases with Bernanke policy ending.
