BOSTON -- Former Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis -- "The Greek God of Walks" -- is walking away from the game, his agent said Thursday.

Jared Wickerham/Getty Images Kevin Youkilis hit 150 homers, drove in 618 runs and had 539 walks over his 10-year major league career.

Youkilis played parts of nine seasons in Boston and was a part of World Series teams in 2004 and '07. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2012 and then played an injury-shortened year with the New York Yankees before spending last season in Japan.

In his career, Youkilis had a .281 batting average with 150 homers and 618 RBIs. He also walked 539 times, a skill that earned him the nickname "Euclis, the Greek God of Walks," in the book "Moneyball."

Youkilis was a member of three All-Star teams and received the 2008 Hank Aaron Award as the best hitter in the AL.

Great player and great guy. I hope he remains an ambassador for our baseball team and our college.

"Greek God of Walks", who is not even Greek.

Have had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times. Great guy and a great Bearcat, who loves his UC sports.

Good man.

Would be cool to hear him in a Rocky Boiman type position. Something balancing out Lance during the summer would be amazing.

He lives in California with his family. His wife, Tom Brady's sister, is from there.

Really wish the Reds would have brought him in for 2014 after Votto went down. We weren't going to do anything and would loved to have seen him as a Red.
