ECU Defense
As an admittedly bias ECU fan, a story on an ECU sight tonight stated the fact that in three conference games this year ECUs defense has not allowed one point in the fourth quarter...they have out scored their opponents 34-0 in the fourth quarter. I am not saying ECU will win out....UCF, Cincy, Memphis, Houston, and Temple have good teams and are capable of being conference champs. I am saying the defensive performance is a good sign and suggests ECU has what it takes to take it to the house....not to mention a very good offense....very proud and supportive.

RE: ECU Defense
Selective statistics much?

Here's another:

Your D gave SMU and UConn their highest points scored against a team this season.

In one game, UNC scored as many points on your D as UCF allowed against Penn State, Mizzou, and our FCS game combined.

Total Defense:
UCF ranked 6th
ECU ranked 31st

There have only been 3 TDs scored on UCF by conference opponents
Houston had 0
Tulane had 1
Temple had 2

Not saying ECU is definitely winning the conference or saying they have the best defense...just saying they have SO FAR stepped up when needed....very respectful of other teams as referred in initial post.

RE: ECU Defense
Some other ECU stats vs AAC teams played to this point

AAC teams are averaging 278 YPG
vs ECU 379 YPG an increase of 36%

190 average passing YPG
303 vs ECU an Increase of 59%

If that trend continues look for Temple to have over 465 yards of total offense. If Temple continues to turn the ball over it wont matter.

So sorry we lost the #3 pick in the draft and practically played without a QB for an entire half. I promise we'll do better next time.

Also, how about Houston, Tulane, and Temple? They scored a combined 39 against us, and that was 3 wins.

You are right about selective the stats.

The most important is being ranked 23rd in the nation in the first ever college playoff poll. Hopefully next week, the most important stat will be a higher ranking than that. Go Pirates!

I also would like to apologize for us having such a big lead on UNC we had to put in the scrubs in the 4th quarter who gave up 2 TDs and our special teams fell asleep against them on a fake field goal in the first half. The 20 they put up on our 1st team D was embarrassing though.

What kind of math do you use? Mizzou scored 38 on you alone. PSU scored 26. BCU scored 7. For a total of 71. UNC scored 41.

You just told a blatant lie.

ECU can never have anything good to say about themselves. It shall be squashed by Kruciff. He'll do things like blame us for selective stats and then defend the ones he uses to trash us. He glorifies UCF as the best thing since sliced bread but expects no one to question him the way he questions others. It is a one way street with him.

Ummm I was actually making fun of the ridiculously selective stat, more than anything. I would have done the same if it was Tulane, but considering it's a thread about ECU and not Tulane...

UCF has the best defense in the conference so far. ecu isn't terrible on defense but not that great either. That 4th quarter stat isn't bad though

I think our defense is actually pretty good...outside of the play at the corners. That's our weakness and ignorant people blame the entire defense as bad. The same thing happened when the UCF backfield was getting burned early on. People here talked about how surisingly bad the defense was...when it really wasn't. It was just certain positions. We've yet to correct our issues like UCF has. Not sure we'll be able to this year.
