....so you believe we had that many more season ticket holders in 2014 to offset what we lost in single game ticket sales? They must be disguised similiar to the 19,000-plus in Ypsilanti.

GOON: ... when ... program cant be slightly funded by its own its sad.
Good thing we had administrations in the past that continued to believe in football, fund-raised, promoted it, hired Novak et al, otherwise your philosophy would have meant we should have dropped the sport, especially when it was known for having the nation's longest losing streak.

GOON: Track and Field/ Soccer upgrade barely got any money from alum's on the basic fact that NIU really never asked for the money and the former players of their sport didn't feel that it was needed.
These "facts" came from where? Why didn't you ask for the removal of those worthless HASF people who "never asked for money?" When was the survey or report that said those "former players didn't feel that it was needed." And why in God's name do you put an apostrophe in "alum's" but don't use one for words like "can't" or "it's"?
Glad to know I'm one of the few "nobodies" among the 1,500-plus in Evans to watch women's volleyball, or the 2,000-plus at men's soccer against Indiana, or in attendance for a MAC women's gymnastics meet, etc. Oh, that's right, you joined in 2013, so you don't realize NIU athletics has been around a lot longer.....maybe you didn't even know Huskie football had once lost 23 straight; you probably don't know we won a national championship in badminton, have double-figure All-Americans in men's gymnastics, actually had men's track and produced Olympic competitors.
Not clear on what you're trying to say: First of all the guy is a ex professor with a masters/PHD in communications and zero business degree but whatever your prob high. So are you defending him or ripping on him? Does that mean only people with business degrees should be BOTs?
Did you work at an airport or a specific hotel to handle the bags of BOTs from Wabash, Oregon and Ohio State, or just lucky? When you asked do you have any idea what they paid to be a BOT? No, I don't; you make it sound like one has to buy his/her way onto a BOT. Perhaps you should start on a slush fund to accompany your roommate's nomination, assuming he gets that degree and does whatever else you deem to determine BOT worthiness.
GOON: Potential students turn down the school with all the violence, murder, and look of the town. Damn DeKalb, somehow misrepresenting where drug and alochol arrests take place just to make the school look bad, not to mention staging that shooting in Cole Hall. Let's destroy on those Chamber of Commerce pamphlets that invite the criminal element.
I'll borrow your line that said: don't even know where you came up with that one in regard to my wanting things to stay the same. Definitely don't want that, I do want to see NIU grow and to succeed academically and athletically, however, having been around for enough decades to see how the cornerstone set by a lot of coaches, athletes, fans, alums and supporters has been forgotten, ignored or undone, I want to see serious people make realistic and attainable efforts to move the program forward.
With this post I'm waving the white flag, you've got all the data and answers, so get your MBA, make millions, and Go Huskies -- particularly in the only sport you seem to care about, football.
Your putting up the white flag?? is this a war?

1. NIU hasn't lied about the attendance at all this year or last year.

2. Novak was interviewed by former players. The AD let Novak change things from the ground up and yes it did have a losing streak but IT WAS SUPPORTED BY THE ALUMS AND FORMER PLAYERS. The AD also let novak get out of things after she saw a kid break his leg vs Kansas State. NIU shifted the program away from thugs who didnt go to class to guys like Joey Reed who played hard and went to class.

3. These facts came from I was there! It was pathetic. It was even worse when the womens soccer coach left her team and broke her contract and the alums of that sport didn't care. The former players of their sports need to come back and help out. Also I went here played here but your you so thats why think somebody who joined just jumped that bandwagon.

4. The guy has a Phd in something that is a joke. Get him off the BOT.

5. Dekalb has gangs and violence. Also the Dekalb police force is a joke. In fact they once came to Novak and said that a bunch of players were a gang including myself of which Novak kicked a player off the team. That is how great the dekalb force is. Do you think they wanna take on gangbangers with guns and knives or college kids that are high/drunk? Dekalb will grow with new leadership from the top down. Boomers want to live in college towns, the time to act is now and not have any excuses nobody cares.
Cole Hall isnt the reason its the town its a **** hole and to joke about it is disgusting.

6. Didnt work at an airport I was a caddy.

7 Im glad you have been a fan for so long. Im glad you want to see change but dont want to change anything. Your not supposed to drink the bongwater.

The white flag is in reference to trying to reason with someone who is convinced he and only he has all the facts.

NIU hasn't lied about the attendance at all this year or last year.
Are you saying NIU lied about attendance in the past? All attendance numbers are slightly fudged when they are announced because until the audit is done to balance actual ticket stubs with no-shows (i.e., season ticket holders who didn't attend), it's an estimated number.

You make statements that have nothing to do with anything, for example:
Novak was interviewed by former players. In relation to what?
The AD also let novak get out of things after she saw a kid break his leg vs Kansas State. What "things" did the AD let Novak get out of?

What in God's name was this sentence supposed to say?
Also I went here played here but your you so thats why think somebody who joined just jumped that bandwagon.

What women's soccer coach broke her contract? If you're talking about Marci (Miller) Jobson, you are completely ill-informed. They asked for more support for the program, were told no and they took jobs at Baylor for huge salary increases. That was no different than Kill or Doreen opting for more money and a better-funded program. The Jobsons have Baylor playing for the Big 12 Conference title this Wednesday in order to lock up a third NCAA appearance in the last four years.
You have no idea how supportive former NIU women's soccer players now coaching at various high schools have been and how they've tried helping their alma mater only to be ignored.

The question poised to you was whether or not only people with business degrees should be on the BOT? Instead you continue to put down a guy because his PhD is in something you consider a joke.

Yes, DeKalb has gangs and violence like so many other communities, but you don't think there's any additional crime that isn't in connection to the university? The lives lost in Cole Hall are not a joking matter, but it took place in a university building, was commited by a former student, and involved many students -- how is any of that the town's fault? There's absolutely no one coming to town sell drugs?
If you truly know anyone in law enforcement or the judicial system, you would know DeKalb's police chief is held in high regard and the reality is the public perception of how good our university police force and chief were has been revealed to be the joke.
Once again, it's impossible to follow the thinking behind statements like they once came to Novak and said that a bunch of players were a gang including myself of which Novak kicked a player off the team. What? Are you saying Novak unjustly kicked a player off the team?
Seriously, there is a feature called "preview post" that might come in handy.

While the $130 mil price tag is steep (but acceptable), for reference, Barsema Hall received a $20 mil stock donation that I believe was sold and turned into $55 mil. While that isn't the full $130mil it does show that it could easily be reached in a very short period, esp if the project is being phased in.

Seriously, there is a feature called "preview post" that might come in handy.

1. The tickets are all electric at NIU. Also if a school is under the required amount they pay a fine according to the rules set by the NCAA.

2. In getting hired and they begged that he stay even during the losing streak. Novak got out of bad deals made in the past for big $$$$ until the team was better. That AD gave every sport the same budget. She thought that was fair. The team got better the school went to Fox Sports Net and 2003 happened.

3. I have been going to NIU games since I was born. You attacked me for only joining the board not to long ago.

4. AD JP got a lawyer because she broke her contract!!!! Not all contracts are the same. Do you know how pissed off the girls on that team were???

5. Our BOT put up against other schools looks very sad. We need people that are movers and shakers not an open enrollment expert.

6. Parents of future kids don't hold Cole Hall against the school they hold the town against the school. The Illinois state police are doing everything they can to help NIU and its still not enough. Grady was amazing and he actually understood the students and helped save countless lives at Cole Hall by training the police the way he did.

7. Novak actually kicked one guy off the team and the Dekalb cops accused many members of the team to be a gang. It seriously is one of the funniest things that ever happened to me, to be considered apart of a gang (one of them was Larry English lol). That is how bad the dekalb police department is.

I'm telling you the facts the things I lived. Sorry it doesn't fit you well. Please spell committed right before you attack me please. This plan for huskies athletics will only work if we get all the sports involved and get serious people to represent NIU. I cant wait for it to happen Go Huskies!

i'd doubt it. while the value of a good athletic program is important to us, and the administration, the public, esp broke college kids will have a field day with this.

Frazier said it will be 100% privately funded.

RE: WOW! Star Article
1. What are you talking about? What required amount? Name one school that has been fined and how much did they get fined for?

2. Who "begged" Novak to stay during the losing streak? What "bad deals made in the past for big $$$$" did Novak get out of?
Who is "That AD?" If you're talking about Cary Groth, she never gave every sport the same budget. That statement is absurd -- you're saying NIU football was budgeted the same as men's golf!

3. Any statement about when you joined was made from the point that there's a lot of NIU athletic history that took place long before you became actively involved -- attending games as a child doesn't count.

4. What lawyer did Jim Phillips hire and was there a lawsuit filed? If so, what became of it? There's no doubt girls on that team were disappointed or even "pissed off," but you are not aware of the back and forth between JP and Marci which led to her taking a better opportunity. Having covered NIU women's basketball, the members of that team were upset when Liz Galloway-McQuitter was let go, they got over it -- no athlete is happy when the coach that recruited him or her leaves.

6. How do you know parents of future kids will hold the town against the school? This isn't a fact, it's your perception of what you believe.
Area law enforcement officials and administration at NIU stopped thinking Grady was amazing, which is why he was removed. The damage was done and the shooting was over well before the police arrived so saying he "helped save countless lives by training the police" is way off base.

7. Novak kicked a few players out of the program at the start. If DeKalb cops accused many -- what is many? Five, nine, 14? -- of the team to be a gang, or to be gang members, how did that not become public? That you felt mis-treated by DeKalb police doesn't mean you're qualified to determine the capabilities or efficiency of the department.

Those so-called "facts" being things you lived, are your own perception of what was happening.
I wasn't trying to be the grammar police when I suggested using "preview post," it was because of the incoherent sentences, but you point out I mis-spelled one word and you're offended? Go back and look at your previous posts complete with no use of punctuation, incoherent sentences -- like that one starting and ending with the word please -- not to mention the numerous words spelled wrong in your previous posts.
Again, there is no reasoning with someone who is convinced he has all the right answers and only his version of things is accurate. You can have the last word because there's no point trying to open your mind or eyes.
