so. how bout that game Saturday?
Things took a serious turn here recently.
I like our chances Saturday. I think we cover and get the over. I hope to see a few reads/pulls for zach. Some serious yards to be gained at this point. Continue to hit play action off of the Franklin and braverman combo. Defense holds them to low 20's offense hits mid 40's.

No common opponents to compare.
Miami has won last two home games but we've played well on the road.
Edge to Fleck and staff in their second year vs. Martin et al in first.

I think I want this win more than others because of the things Martin said about Fleck and the program during the MAC preseason presser. He certainly has the right to not want to use slogans, and even if he does think it's ridiculous, keep it to yourself. I hope WMU whoops em', and then when he is shaking Martin's hand, he says "Row the boat coach"

Can't disagree with any of that.
I'm tempted to drive over for the game... Oxford's only 45-60 minutes away by car, less if I fly...
Err - on second thought:
Saturday A slight chance of snow showers, mixing with rain after 9am, then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a north wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

So how much out of the way to stop in Standish to pick up couple more passengers?

Franklin and company are going to put up big numbers on a porous Miami D.

Franklin needs to bounce to the outside and not run it up the gut So Many times, IMO. I think Miami's going to stack it to hold him back. Ohio was stuffing our running game pretty well most of the time. Ohio has a better D than Miami, but we need to Make A Statement! I'm confident we will.
This is the first time I'm confident we will win a road game. But me being confident about it makes me unconfident because now I feel like I'm jinxing it. BUT, in the world of RTB, there is no superstition. Hopefully the Martin comments from that Mt Pleasant newspaper brought up is shown to the players -- so it fires up our team, and we can row the hell out of them!

I think they run Franklin up the middle so much to wear down the opponent front 7. This has been evident in nearly every game of the season, where our O-line starts pushing them around in the second half, and Franklin starts breaking big runs.

The only way I figured we'd lose is if we went into 'letdown' mode: A big homecoming win in front of a large crowd... and now on the road again to a (improved) 2-7 team's stadium.
I'm liking what I'm reading from Fleck in terms of stressing how every game is important, not focusing on 'bowl eligibility' and all that, so I'm pretty confident what I described will be avoided.

Given the winds and the bumps, assuming I'm actually able to take off and land, only about 5 hours out of the way...

Yeah, I can see doing that periodically, but thru 3 Q the last few games, his running average was really low. Not until the 4th Q does he break out and a good run becomes somewhat typical.
I think Fleck's comments after the last game about Franklin still having stuff to learn may be indicative of that, I dunno. I'm not saying run Way outside, just sometimes you see a gap outside the straight-up-the-gut, and he never thought to look anywhere toward straight-up where all the defenders were at.
Not that I fear Miami's running D, don't get me wrong. :) But EMU will have a surprisingly decent D, and CMU will have a good one. I think averaging 3 yds/carry for 3 Q won't be enough for @CMU, NIU, if our passing game doesn't light it up.

I hear ya. I sometimes have become frustrated in the lack of creativity with Franklin. I mean, you can't argue with the results, but still...we've seen what he can do in space. So I agree, I would like to see him get outside a little more.

I would not be surprised to see Franklin involved more in the passing game.

So... anyone else making the trip to Oxford tomorrow?
I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be more tempting if I knew some other Bronco fans would be there.

Trust your eyes.
I watched Miami and Kent in perfect weather go 10-3.
The one thing NIU and KSU have in common is they have no offense. So when you look at the Miami win over Kent you think great D. It's not, Kent has no offense. Stop thinking NIU is good, they're not. NIU eeked out a win over Kent. Central rolled them,it was never a game. Hare is terrible. BSU is going to do the same thing to them that CMU did, and if we score twice on Miami the games over.

Exactly right. We go down there and keep playing our game, improve a little bit, we come out with a win. Our existing plan will work well down there.

Cool, if I end up driving over, I'll post on here and try to say hello. It'd likely be a solo trip and I'll just try and get a ticket near the WMU fans when I get there.
(We're meeting some friends tomorrow who are moving and it's TBD when that'll happen).
