It is a bye week so I guess there isn't too much to write about. Well, at least til Thursday.

He's definitely "right", but there's something to be said about the danger of complacency. Yes, Huskie football has blossomed into a nationally recognized and respected mid major. But we want more, and there's nothing wrong with that. If everyone thought like Korcec, we'd go nowhere.

I'd love to see someone run the numbers.

% of Dog Pound posters in comparison to Huskie fan base, and then % of negative / crazy / glass half empty Dog Pound posters in relation to Huskie fan base.

Can you measure numbers that small?

If we were told at the beginning of the season that after eight games, the Huskies would be 6-2, most of us (who think logically) would have been happy. The number one goal (on the football field) was to win another MAC championship, that is still well within reach.

I agree with Mike that there's nothing wrong with this team being 6 -2 and still having a chance to win the West. The 2014 Huskies are an imperfect team that is fighting through each game. It ain't pretty but they're getting it done.

I disagree that fans should "stop griping". Even though a lot of the griping on this board is ridiculous it is fans showing passion for the team and university and there's nothing wrong with that. Every fan base has lunatics.

I also disagree with his belief that we won't get into a bigger conference one day. The last decade of conference realignment has shown that anything is possible. Will it happen for NIU? Who knows. Could it happen under the right circumstances? Of course it could.

It must be strange being a fan that is content with settling.

I agree we're not getting into another conference for the foreseeable future. But he must be too old to understand that message boards are designed for passionate fans to "gripe" about their favorite team. It doesn't mean we haven't enjoyed the ride so far. It doesn't mean we're not going to the games either. And his guess of a record of 8-4 is the same as mine. Ok, if we win 2 of the last 4. But WMU, the Nonrivals, and Ball State will likely be tougher than the MAC teams we've played so far, except maybe CMU. Assuming we beat Ohio (not a given) we could still end up 7-5. If we knew it was a 1-year temporary hiccup, nobody would care.

I feel the same way as you do. I'm not disappointed the team is 6-2, nor do I expect the Big 12 to call. However, I do not think the Huskies have been playing well enough lately to make it to the MACC. That disappoints me. Also, I'm going to be concerned about coaching when the team can't score more than 17 points three weeks in a row and then scores 51. It's the coaching staff's job to have the team ready to play their best each week. I just don't think they have done that this year.

What the hell do you expect from an online message board? No matter what team it is you're looking at the most die hard 5% of fans. I'm sure the stuff on P5 program message boards is even more absurd. I expect more from NIU...boohoo.
