I agree DogFan, I like Mike a lot, I actually love the guy. I respect all of our opinions, don't agree all the time, but Mike deserves his voice to be heard. The guy put his LIFE into this program. I am not mad that we are 6-2, I am utterly pissed we lost at home to the Chips...

We knew the defense would be bad and that the kicking game was a mess coming into the season, but the dumb penalties, poor playing calling at times is what has been disappointing to me. Well that and the whole indecision at QB. I agree with both of you that its not about the record so much as how you got there. No way should NIU have EVER been held under 20 points against Kent and CMU.

I like the article. It's a "come back down to earth; Harnish & Lynch aren't here anymore". Nothing wrong with critiquing your team for improvement on ends that Should be there. Not at all.

But fans of ANY (mid-major) team Expecting to be Boise 2.0 with less money than they, half the fans/attendance -- ya can't be Expecting Complete dominance every year...

... you're not in the MAC East.

But I will say though, that NIU fans DO have the right to complain they're not BETTER right now. They should be more sound, consistent, better on D, etc. BUT, maybe that will get resolved by the last 2-3 games of the season.

Have you spent any portion of your life reading Huskie Illustrated in the past, press releases or media guides? If you don't think Korcek is a real journalist, you sir, are a complete idiot. "Blog writers" are a dime a dozen on the internet, while the Daily Chronicle doesn't pay him, they publish his column. Spoke to one of his former assistants who told me Korcek is not a contributor, but he does follow the Dog Pound because like some of us -- he's an NIU grad -- and like many of us -- he roots for the Huskies over any other program.
By the way, a sign of a true journalist is that they read any and all sources of information, and that includes the Dog Pound. Some folks on here have connections in the athletic department and there are times information leaks out here. Personally, I didn't think Korcek was ripping us as much as he was repeating what some others on here have said: "The program has come a long way, we should appreciate it, and many would have believed during the preseason that NIU could be 6-2 and in contention for the MAC West despite losing Lynch and Ward."

That is PART of what he said, but I will again say. I don't really care at all what Korcek has to say. He has his OPINION and that is fine. But maybe he shouldn't focus on taking shots at a friggin' message board & telling everyone that NIU can't move up, down, left, or right. Again, if he and many others are okay with settling that's fine, but taking shots at the board is just ridiculous. He should care what we say about as much as I care about what he says.

It's perfectly fine to be an addict when it come to NiU football...we have too few addicts. Those are the folks that go to games and buy merchandise. Need more of them!
