Just curious, since I have no idea...who are the 8 losses to?
Not sure who the other 6 are to...but 2 of the 8 are to ECU.
In the last ten years, O'Leary is...
3-5 overall against ECU
Two of the three wins for UCF come in year 1 of a new ECU coach
1-3 in Greenville, losing the last three straight.
We have the best offense we've ever had and we're not facing the best defense you've ever had against us. We also have a better defense than any team in Ruff's tenure. I am cautiously optimistic about ECU's chances.

Exactly what I suspected. Some of the great defensive teams of Skip Holtz were able to stop UCF as we were pretty much a spitting image of one another. Games like 23-10, 19-14, 13-10 OT, etc.
Ruffin has a losing record against UCF because his defenses have allowed 49, 40, and 31 points to UCF. Almost a complete 180.
With the Pirates allowing 21 points to UConn (season high for the Huskies) and 24 points to SMU (season high for the Mustangs) in what you call Ruffin's best defense at ECU, it doesn't sound like our offense will have much to worry about.

Wah? Only one of those 8 losses (1 of 2 from ECU) was from Holtz's vaunted defenses. Yes, 3 of the remaining 5 overall UCF losses were in the Holtz era...but let's not get carried away and act like Ruff has some huge losing record to UCF. He is 1-2. The first loss was in his first season. He also owns the other win out of those 8 your defense didn't manage to win...that 31 UCF points you say was part of the reason he has a losing record was a win for ECU. And if I was dumb enough to think our defense was only as good as those two games. (SMU and UConn)..and that every game we have will turn out like those...then I might agree with you. But I'm smarter than that.
So, you can have legit reasons to be cautiously optimistic but I can't?

I am taking ECU in this one... History points to none of the Florida teams doing great in cold weather and ECUs offense just matches up well against UCF defense this year. I think it will be close but I am taking ECU by 6.

UCF sure could win, but I don't like the scenario. A senior QB vs. a first year Sopmore starting QB in a big national televised game on Thursday night. Kind of feel the defense will need a score to make this happen. We will see, I just hope we are 9-2 by the time we get there.

I think it will be close, but I doubt weather will play much of a factor. We are talking NC not the artic north. I really hope both teams win out before this game though. That will at least be 1 marquee game in the aac for 2014.

Since last year, UCF is 17-3 and 11-0 in AAC play.
Until someone changes that, I'm taking my Knights.

To me the most important factor in this game is that ECU is at home on a Thursday night. Its always harder on the visiting team during mid-week games.

Ok? You still realize our average temp is 25 degrees colder than yours in December....
It snows in December... it will be a factor.

A lot of our kids are from Georgia. Holman is too.
Georgia isn't exactly different from NC with regards to weather.

Except that it is. NC is much colder. The distance from southern GA to northern NC is the same as from NC to northern PA

It depends on what part. That Atlantic air coming in can make a breeze blow right threw ya. Georgia mountains block alot of that so unless it is an east coach kid then the weather is different.
I think it plays a small part... I honestly just think that the ECU offense is better then the UCF defense but the ECU defense is equal to UCF offense...so I think ECU squeeks out a tight win.

One thing I know as fact is UCF "O'Leary" they know how to stop the Air Raid. I watched with my own eyes he has it down pat. Don't how he does it but he does it. He also knows how to stop the spread in general see Baylor last year...Also watched him neutralize our Air raid teams QB by Keenum.

I hate Keenum!!! I still have nightmares of that guy and all those receivers! I think ECU's offense this year mirrors those Houston years (but with a better running game). That is a huge compliment.

He's right, if there's one thing GOL has really done extremely well at UCF consistently, it's stop fast paced spread offenses that are used to puttinig up huge points.
Which is why it was great we drew Baylor last year and not some power running team.

Unless we are talking Temps in the low 20s it won't have much impact. If it is 40s- 50s it will have minimal impact at all. If you did get an early snowstorm, that doesn't help an air raid offense either.

I don't know that the cold weather itself affects us too poorly. It's cold weather in dead stadiums like Temple last year. Would I prefer it be in the 80s, you bet. But I'm not sure 44 by itself is a huge deal.
Also, SMU last year was played during an ice-storm. It's amazing the game even got played. I don't think it really shows much as to how we play in cold weather.

I agree with you on everything except Running back. I think your main receiver is better than any of ours on the Keenum teams. I'm not sure your running backs are as deep as we had, and I'm not sure you have a back on your roster as good as Simms was. Either way the are very similar, your defense is better than ours was in the Keenum years....One thing I watched last week that I noticed, and didn't noticed until last week was your QB throws off his back foot an awful lot he loses distance when he does that. Not sure when he started doing that. My dad is a retired head coach and pointed it out to me, and said the same thing about him just starting to do that last week.

Average High for Greenville, NC on Dec 4th is 59 degrees.
Average early AM low is 34 degrees.
UCF played in 20 degree weather on a frozen turf in Dallas last year...I think they will be fine for this trip.
