Just some friendly advice. I realize you are new to the BigTen, but you got to learn the proper lingo and standards when comparing entrance exam test scores.

In the BigTen, we talk about ACT scores, not SAT scores. I am sure it was not your intention, but when you talk about SAT scores, you sound like an east coast elitist snob to us Midwesterners.

RE: SAT Rankings
per the link: ACT scores were translated into SAT scores (math + verbal) using this concordance table, so that all schools could be compared using one metric. Then, an average of the 25th and 75th percentile was computed (see a full description of the methodology and limitations here).

I know and this being a BigTen Board, I expected you to translate the SAT scores to ACT scores in your original post. The link provided a handy dandy conversion chart.

You went to all that trouble to copy that list but did not list the ACT scores? Come on buddy, get with the program.

US Rank, School, Average SAT

6 University of Michigan-Ann Arbor 1340. ACT = 30
9 University of Maryland-College Park 1310 ACT = 29
11 Ohio State University-Columbus 1300 ACT = 29
14 University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign 1285 ACT = 28
22 University of Wisconsin-Madison 1265 ACT = 28
22 University of Minnesota-Twin Cities 1265 ACT = 28
43 Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick 1210 ACT = 27
51 Purdue University-West Lafayette 1200 ACT = 27
63 Pennsylvania State University-University Park 1175 ACT = 26
63 Indiana University-Bloomington 1175 ACT = 26
68 University of Iowa 1165 ACT = 26
68 Michigan State University (3) 1165 ACT = 26
83 University of Nebraska-Lincoln 1145 ACT = 25

Look, to show there is no hard feelings, i looked up the ACT scores myself in the conversion table and added them above. But i am not joking when I write this. In the Midwest, we use the ACT. Don't post something about SAT scores without showing equivilant ACT scores in your post.

I guess I am an East Coast elitist snob. I didn't take or knew anyone who took the ACT when I was in high school 25 years ago 03-puke. Nor do I think any of my nieces and nephews took anything but the SAT's. I would be curious to see a map of where the SAT/ACT line starts.

Indiana also starts their kids a year later than most states.

RE: SAT Rankings
Weird how ACT vs. SAT seems to be a coastal versus middle thing. Honestly, I thought it was more an East of the Mississippi vs. West of it thing until now.

Same here. When I was in high school, SAT = Biggie, ACT = 'Pac.
