RE: Brief History - Oct 1st
It would have been harder to leave, but we would've left nonetheless. We married ourselves to football in 2009 whether anyone wants to believe that or not. At the time we were offered CUSA membership, ECU, Tulane, & Tulsa were our future conference mates. The TV revenue & media platform from a football move were much better than the CAA ever had. And we had a new young AD who came from a Sunbelt school and saw the advantages of playing football at the highest division. Not to mention his fear of a 10-20 year moratorium on move ups at that time. I think Wood & Broderick would've made the move regardless of VCU/GMU, all things considered. It would have been more controversial, but they would've done it. And it would've been the right move. It helped more programs than it would've hurt, including the bell cow (football).

I agree, just not sure we would have made the move as quickly as we did. No complaints though.

I loved watching JMU walking of the field stunned they lost to us. Such a sweet moment.

I've always thought TH and Pinkard had a special connection. That JMU pic is great, I seem to remember an incredible throw and catch between the two in the Towson game at the back of the endzone.
OK, maybe I shouldn't have brought up that particular game.

We have a huge framed photo of, I think it was DeRon Mayo, knocking the helmet off the JMU running back in the first JMU game. Good times, indeed.
