Well, if there's good news, it's that ECU is close enough to being out of the ranking that Marshall should be able to make up ground as long as they keep winning.

If they ranked 1-126 we'd be the 4th team. So we might as well give up now.

Colorado State is probably a better guess, because they are 6-1 with 2 P5 wins.

Serious question-- Would a win against a hapless Vandy be a "better" win than, say, beating a Boise State, in the eyes of the committee members ?

Honestly, this whole thing is moot if both teams don't keep doing that. IF ECU wins out it is pretty clear they get the Access bowl. IF ECU loses, CSU wins out, AND BSU loses, I believe CSU gets it. IF ECU loses, CSU wins out/drops one, and BSU wins out, Marshall gets it. (IMO) Plenty of season left, but it is nice to know where the measuring stick (kind of) is at.

I really have no argument. Listening to Archer, it's about "body of work, to date.". If that's truly the criteria, the wins against Virginia Tech and UNC matter...a lot. We just have to win.

Actually, it was good to see they didn't follow the AP/Coaches Poll. Stay calm Marshall, this isn't the week that the poll will determine your fate.

Just keep playing, if MU wins, good things will happen. Maybe not the access bowl. Still in search of first conf. championship, lots to play for. More wins = a better bowl regardlessly. There's no magic wand or time machine, the schedule is what it is, and I'm just going to continue to enjoy this season, the Herd's not had very many good ones the last decade or so.

Mike Tranghese is on there too. Didn't expect to make the list at all and surprised to hear even ECU made it, their wins against 2 ACC schools are beyond not impressive since VA Tech is 4-4 and 1-3 in the ACC and UNC is 4-4 and 2-2 in the ACC. Didn't even watch dog and pony show.

A 4 team play off isn't a playoff, its a beauty contest.

Good advice for everyone. Every week there will be a change, but now we have a better idea of the criteria. Teams in CUSA, MWC and AAC need to have decent OOC teams scheduled. Like the old wrestling saying goes, to be the man you got to beat the man. Unfortunately for Marshall the nightmare might play out again next year. Their OOC schedule is a mirror image of this year. Its not until 2016 that they have teams like Pitt and Louisville scheduled. This is a lesson for everyone.

The fact of the matter is that our hands are tied as far as SOS. You can try to schedule home and homes with these guys, but they could back out at any moment.
