You and I must agree to disagree on this for I firmly understand it to be true based on my interactions with liberals in Minneapolis. It's about presenting your "bona fides" when in conversation with people (one assumes) who are like minded and cut of the same cloth. In my case, that is upper-middle class, high educated white families.

I can see, however, this being less a case in a more conservative liberal area.
