Any traction on Jake's / Biggs for Saturday or is something else in the works ?

I think Owl95 is unwilling to commit to Jake's/Bigg's due to the uncertainty of channel availability at said establishment. As with the So. Miss game, the FIU game is on some channel no one has ever heard of which means it may or may not be available to watch there. If Kay's Lounge can get it that would be a better location.

Kay's doesn't open until 3, according to internet.

All one has to do is go over to the site during the week and verify first-hand that they get the channel. That's what I've done when I've organized watch parties. It's a much more sound approach than guessing, assuming or (least reliable of all) calling and talking on the phone to some bartender who doesn't really care whether the answer you get is accurate.

The problem is that ASN is not a real channel, but a programming package. Our Hawaii game was also broadcast by ASN and was picked up by CSN in Houston. If I could somehow confirm that is what is happening this week, then we'd be fine. I am planning on going over to Jake's tonight to talk to them.

So far on DTV the only listing is for CH 628-1 an alternate for NESN. The Hawaii game was picked up by a number of the Comcast affiliates including Chicago and Houston.....just don't see it happening this time.

We could set up a campfire near Valhalla, roast weenies and listen to JP on the radio

Tiki, thank you for that. When I go to Jake's tonight, I'll check for 628-1. I'll also just check 665 anyway. They also have Comcast cable, do we have any info on that?

"Matt's College Sports on TV" is a great resource for knowing exactly which networks, regional channels, etc., are carrying any given game. Well worth bookmarking. Anyway, it also shows NESN+ as the only outlet for Rice @ FIU. The good news is that our game is not part of the ESPN Gameplan package, so it should not be blacked out for those who have NESN+ (e.g., if you have DirecTV's sports package).

Last evening, Rice Football ( @RiceFootball1 ) tweeted ... " Owl fans, we have confirmed CSNHouston will be carrying Saturday's @LiveOnASN broadcast of the FIU game. Full clearance list later this week".

They definitely have CSN Houston, and they do have NESN+. I'll make the official post this evening. Thanks for all of the help!

So, it looks like I'll need Direct TV to see this one.

I just checked ESPN to see where to find tonight's Rocket game. In lieu of CSN it says ROOT. I guess the new ownership is in place. Wonder if ROOT will be on ATT or Direct TV ?

So when I went to Jake's last night, we put it on 628-1 but there was no programming, so it was inconclusive whether or not they had it. I thought they did because the "Ordering info" prompt did not show up. But the manager assured me that she would verify it with their tech person and call me back this morning. So she called me today to tell me that they actually DO NOT have NESN+. However, since the game will be carried on CSN Houston(or Root), I'm going forward with the watch party and I confirmed it with Jake's today. My next post is the official one and I'll notify the alumni office tonight.

Thanks to everyone for their help. It was a group effort and now I've learned about that Matt's site for future reference.

Dish Network has the game on one of their Alternate Channels as long as you have 120+ channels, channel 454 in my area.

The + channels are only used when there are multiple events. They show up in the channel guide but may not have programming on them at all times. DTV usually has all of the + channels but not sure about Comcast or the others.
