It always interesting to see when sites re-rank classes after 3 or 4 years. Fuente is basically using the model that guys like Patterson (TCU) and Petrino (Louisville) used to gain prominence; get a system, stick to it, find underrated players that fit the system, and coach them up. I think the guys like Fuente just know exactly what type of player they need/want at each position. I am sure he would love to have some 5* players on his roster but football has so many high school players that is no wonder that so many "fall through the cracks" and end up being studs while coming out of high school with a low star rating.

And don't forget that there generally is a huge difference between the body of a 15-16 year old when the rating services develop player reputations and a 19-21 year old that is feed, worked and molded. Some high school kids have never eaten a healthy meal or spent a productive day in the weight room.

I could be wrong, but what I think I've read/heard is the most college football programs prefer to redshirt freshman where possible and get them into the weight program and work them through reps and whatever their first two years after that.
So, by the time a guy gets to start as a junior or so, he's been through three offseasons of weights, nutrition, etc.

Whether it is developing players or coaching them up, or both; the results have been spectacular to say the least.

You're not wrong and it makes a huge difference.
Plus with the high injury rate in football, it leads to a surprising amount of 6 year players with the additional redshirt for injury.

I know that later on the ratings of some of these players will change and our ranking will change. But right now we have the worst recruiting class that we have had in 10 years. CJF is doing it on the field but he is not on the recruiting trail. Concerned that if a new job offer comes around due to his actually on the field coaching skills that he may leave us with an empty cupboard for the next coach.

Find out how many of those during 2009, 2010, 2011 made it to campus.
Then you will know, the rest of the story.

He DID receive offers from Central Ark., Arky State and Memphis.
Arky, Auburn and Alabama also spent a little time recruiting him.
Anyway, he's obviously worthy of a D1 scholly- at MOST programs.
There was also a Jarvis Cooper that played hs ball in Philadelphia.
He is a diminutive 5' 6" and 149 lbs. Could be some of the bigger schools got them confused when talking about Jarvis Cooper.
Arkansas State didn't recruit this kid. Still could be great. ULM has a few guys that the Wolves didn't recruit from AR that I would take in a heartbeat.

News flash......football recruiting is completely different from basketball. Unless you are top 10, then rankings and stars don't mean a lot in football.
