And let the Army-Navy game be THE first FBS game of the year rather than the last.

If ESPN could get the rights to BYU (in conference) + the Army / Navy game, that'd easily be worth 6 mill per year per team.

While I like the idea, they will never go for it. That game is so big for them that both teams build for it throughout the season.

At least at the beginning of the season Army has hope that they might be good. By December Navy is 8-3 and Army is 2-9 and everyone knows who is going to win

I would imagine the Army/Navy game would be a separate TV deal from the American TV contract. Would not be surprised if all Navy's OOC games are excluded from the American TV contract.

It wont happen... I like adding Army but BYU is unattainable and adding two teams wont add $64 million a year to our conferences value. We make $20 million a year now and you are saying that adding these two teams will get us to $84 million.

Also, whats BYUs incentive? They already make about a $1 million per home game that ESPN shows... so far they are on track to show 6 this year. They already make $6 million off of ESPN and then they get some cash for their other sports.... plus keep all their third tier rights for the BYU network.

It would be a cut in pay for them and take them away from their main mission.

Army, Air Force, Colorado State, and .... maybe that will convince Boise or BYU to become #16.

If not, possibly UMass for #16.

Keep in mind the next contract will be significantly more even if we didnt make a single addition.

That said, the Army-Navy game is not going to be part of the AAC package. The game currently pays 5 million a year (split between Army and Navy, so 2.5 million each). That's more than each AAC school gets for their entire season of football PLUS thier entire season of basketball. TV execs estimated the games value at being at least 10 million a year in 2018 when the current deal expires. That's 5 million apiece for Army and Navy for just ONE game. AAC teams will still be receiving less than 2 million each in 2018 under our current deal.

The other issue with Army being in the conference is that all conference games will have to played prior to Championship Saturday. Moving the game off the Saturday where its the only FBS football on TV will likely destroy much of its value.

Uhh, more bowl selections. A better chance at an Access Bowl slot. The only guarantee BYU has, in regards to Access Bowls, is if they're in the Top 4.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...undefeated

Ease of scheduling. They're a good name, but it takes A LOT of work. Take 2018. They have 10 teams scheduled, only four at home. They have to find two more teams to (hopefully) play at their stadium.

They have to play AT places like UMass & NIU.

No to Army and yes to BYU and AirForce as the bridge.

Unless Army changes it's priorities or how it views and utilizes the cadets whom play football, they aren't going to be able to compete. So why ask them too. Army has a unique mission and their personnel are developed for different purposes then Navy and the AirForce.

If you want a continuous bowl eligible Army team, they should be allowed to utilize their enlisted ranks. Then I can guarantee you'll have a more compatible team on the field. Just don't complain if they look and act like Marshall. 07-coffee3

Everyone needs to read "A Civil War" to truly understand these two schools. Great football book.

No!

Give BYU a Notre Dame type deal. Not a full football member but required to schedule a certain amount of games.

How would you guys feel about adding Texas State as a new member?

Not that were a powerful football program just yet but I think we could be mildly competitive to start, we did beat Tulsa (I know they're bad this year) and I'm confident we would beat SMU and possibly UConn and Tulane (if we played this season).

We're in the middle of the Austin-San Antonio markets and have a student enrollment of 36,000+

Would love to be in this conference.

Sorry but the conference already has two schools in Texas. It really doesn't need any more. In MHO, that's where the Big 12 messed up. They should have never added TCU or Baylor. If Houston or MSU leave the conference then perhaps but not at present. 04-cheers
