RE: La Tech vs. WKU thread
21 points sounds low. I have a feeling both teams will be in the high 40's low 50's, excluding overtime. If TECH tries to grind it out on the ground, I think we will lose because I don't think our O Line is capable of that. I don't think that will happen though. We'll mix it up just like we do. Tech's known to start slow. Like most from WKU have said, I think we will come from behind to win late, TECH 52 WKU 48, I hope.

We seem to get stronger on both sides of the ball as the game goes on and that's a good thing I think. TECHs D could surprise and give a little more point spread, but I would be very happy with a one point win. WKU is a good ballclub for sure.

I have seen La Tech play a couple times and have not been impressed. I see Western winning this one despite their horrible defense.

RE: La Tech vs. WKU thread
I don't see WKU scoring more than 21. Techs D has been incredible against none top 10 teams. Against our peers, we are giving up less than 17 points a game. Than includes 30 to NSU. Take out the garbage TDs at ULL, UNT and USM and Techs D is giving up less than 14 points a game. I realize we haven't played against a good passing team except USM. Diaz will have something special for WKU.

I am more confident that Tech D holds to a low score than I am the O will go crazy and score 40 plus in a shootout.

Ground game for LA Tech and keeping WKU off the field is the best game plan. I will put a 50/50 chance that pressure causes a short pass to go for a pick 6. If we get into a shootout the Bulldogs will have a tougher time.

Yeah I can't see WKU scoring as many or more points than Oklahoma or Auburn did on us. I think we get at least 40 they get no more than 30.

Yeah we keep hearing that (not that good). We're getting better though.

All good points. I didn't think about most of that.

It's kinda funny watching all these MTSU guys post how WKU is gonna blow us out. I get you guys are repping the East, but what is it gonna say about your team if we blow them out and it took overtime for you to beat them?

With the defense that tech has you guys should win as long as you can throw over the top when on offense. The big plays are what kill us. I saw glimpses of hope in our defense in the 4th against ODU but not enough to keep tech under 35-40 points . I don't see you guys holding WKU under 28-35. I could see the final score around 47-38 with either team coming out on top

RE: La Tech vs. WKU thread
I don't want to take anything for granted. Coming from a traditionally high octane offense school, I know WKU will never not be in a game. Tech has gotten real conservative in their play calling the last couple games. ECU fans told us Skip would do that, but dang it scares me to death. Tech will have to be prepared for WKU come Saturday, The West and Bowl eligibility is on the line.

It will probably say that you guys are better, but I just don't see you guys blowing them out. Based on what I saw when you guys played USM I believe you will lose.

Fair enough. We didn't play all that well. Hurts when they are stacking the box and the 2 receiver has to play the 1 and the 4 has to play the 2 and so on. Depending on who tech has back and how long we possess the ball this thing will goes many different ways.

I have said all year, and I'll say again... to beat WKU you will have to score at least 40. IMO of course.

RE: La Tech vs. WKU thread
I feel like Tech needs to keep WKU's offense off the field. If we can somehow put together some loong long drives that end in touchdowns, we will have a solid shot of winning. I feel we could hold WKU to its lowest scoring output of the season, but I would't venture to guess what that would be.

Good point about keeping offense off the field. Hold the ball and finish in scoring drives, get pressure, disrupt throwing lanes and tackle. Lowest point total in the last three games was 37 by FAU (throw out Navy because its meaningless).

Old school football is all about TOP and Clock management. Thats why LSU, Alabama and UGA like to use their offense as a defensive weapon. You can't score if you don't have the ball and a rested defense only needs a couple stops a game against a spread offense.

That's the one glimmer of hope for the rest of the season that I took from our game with ODU. We seemed to run the ball a little more. We have a good running game, if we use it, Need to grind some yards out and eat some time off the clock. IMHO Once again, this game will come down to who can make the stops in the 4th quarter.

I agree. Unless WKU can jump out by three tds in the 1st quarter, the only score that will matter is the one at the end of the game. I don't want a shoot out but I also don't think a shootout will take us out of the game either

RE: La Tech vs. WKU thread
If Western can run the ball Tech will not hold us under 35 unless we turn it over and stop ourself. With one exception...Tech controls the ball on offense with the 4 to 6 yard runs which adds up to long drives as UAB and FAU did to the Western defense. If Tech is able to pound Western with the run and your QB is on...(not over throw) Western has little to no shot of winning. So far this season at least in conference play...every qb seems to be able to make great passes against us. In all honesty it really didn't take perfect passes to beat our DBs...

but some of the passes the UAB qb made was some damn good passes same with ODU...not many if any over thrown balls. Western is the worse blitzing team in college football. Maybe in football..down to peewee league. I would say 90% of every play Western gave up over 10 yards came off a blitz. While it won't be cold..it will be cool (55) and could affect throws, catches and gripping

Our line isn't that good IMO, but our defense has kept us in games. I believe last week we led the nation in points off turnovers. This game should be won on the ground by either you or us. It is gonna be a great game regardless of the outcome.

we held USM to a -29yd total rushing so I'm confidence that we can hold WKU running game off.
