It's sad that someone has to hate on a fine young man that's a graduate of the university. But that seems to be par for the course with you and your ilk. Have a nice day sir.

Haters gonna hate doe. That article was not written by Martin but continue with your agenda it's entertaining
Not a Martin article. Point remains, I can't think of many bigs that are as different as Joey (energy, defense, glass eater, enforcer, limited offensive player) and Black (weak on boards, poor hands, gifted scorer in the post).
Ta-Joey DorsBlack would be a first ballot hall of fame NBA player. It's a great thing to have two Tigers playing for Houston.

Yep. A role player who contributes. And collects a big check. Good for him.

Absolutely, Black has his faults and limitations but job misused him. I've said that since he was a sophomore.
Sometimes the coach and player don't gel. No shame on either. It was time for Tarik to move on and we did very well with our bigs last year (and will play through them a ton this year).
A good coach and a good player don't always end up on the same page. Happens. Glad the story is on such a high note for Tarik!

Josh never embraced the 2 post lineup until last year with Austin and Shaq. I'm hoping a year in the American has changed his philosophy.

Tarik Black?
Yup.
Yeah he shot like nearly 70% from the field that one year
Edit 68.9 % his sophomore year
One year here he led the nation in shots taken inside of 3 feet-all but 2 of his shots were inside 3 feet for a whole season.

RE: Congrats to Tarik Black. Made the Rockets roster.
My biggest issue with Tarik was his hands. He just missed a lot of passes he shoulda caught. Also could be why he lost a lot of rebounds. Kevin McHale will make him better at his post play. He may have been one of the top 5 post players of all time.

Agree about his hands being the non connected part of the picture. His chest was a bit too thrust out, too, at times---at least for the purpose of integrated movement. But that seems to have improved. I'm happy for Tarik. He endured quite a bit of fan bashing from us and them.
Oh yea.... so much for Tarik and Football.

With Rockets final cuts, Tarik Black went from a training camp invitee with a non-guaranteed contract to making team, likely as b/up center.

Shaq was the same way. When your guards constantly get best off the dribble the bigs get into foul trouble. I'm glad that allegedly defense is being emphasized this season.

I Agree with that too. But that's when the coach kicks some azz. Josh didn't do that. I thought he pandered to the guards, specifically Joe. That's another subject...
I do think Josh will change for the better this year though.

You find a way to keep him in the game or you get productive minutes out of him when you can.
As for a "go-to-post move", the guy scored 70% of his shots mostly by backing down his defender and then dunking on him. What other sort of "post moves" would you like to see? The f-ing Dream Hook?

How many charges did he pick up trying to back his guy in? A lot. How about a drop step or spin move that 80 of decent college big men use. Or even a head or ball fake? When you are out of shape and your body fat is over 20% easy to reach and grab on D. Foul trouble=less minutes played. FACTS.
