There is nothing else BUT HOCKEY 04-rock

Dip, perhaps you were not aware, this is a hockey forum and most of the reader/posters here are more focused this great game. Obviously your just more interested in stirring up the mix... 05-stirthepot

Please come back when you actually have something of value to discuss that is hockey related.....

Perhaps in order for Tiffels to become a more complete "two way" player, he is benefiting from playing for a coach who plays a very structured game and requires "all" the players to be defensively reliable?

Exactly. If he hopes to go anywhere, he will have to learn to be a two-way player.

So is it shear coincidence that early on Muir has been paired with "two forwards" (Dries/Kessel) from last years shut down line or pure genius on Murray's in part to help Muir develop this area of his game?

Bull-crap! The NHL is not looking for two way players except on grind lines! They want skilled scorers on their main lines...putting Muir on a shut-down line won't do him that much good. Tiffels will be stifled and this may have been the worst system for him to come to. Same with Muir. Nong-Lambert may be able to overcome it depending on which line he plays on.

I doubt that you will find many hockey coaches who agree with you on that.

Looks like Murray's system didn't hurt Bailsy's productivity:

http://theahl.com/stats/statdisplay.php?...op_scorers

http://www.uscho.com/stats/conference/nchc/2013-2014/

I thought he was one of the best two way forwards in the NCHC last year. Imagine his point production if we could of gotten our power play going?

I also believe he would not be getting any looks at the next level had he not "proven" that he can play and be productive in a structured system.

This is also the only D1 hockey team that it is mandatory to be at school all summer, very little break time.

Not true nut, I know of several...

I know players from nearly every team and WMU trains more over the summer than any one of them, not saying its bad, just wondering if it causes burnout.

Dude, I'm also not a big fan of forwards on the point, more so because I want to see a defensemen defending a rush when there is a turnover in our OZ. But many, many teams do it, even at the pro level. Sometimes it's out of necessity, sometimes part of a offensive strategy.

Kovas has been on the point this year since day one. He is probably this teams best play maker who should be out there.

As for having 4 competent Dmen that could anchor the PP, you forget that we had an un-expected early departure in Osterlee and he would have been one of those 4 defensemen you are looking for.

In case you haven't noticed there's a thread on the football forum titled "Fire Fleck."

It's been there for nearly two years and was inspired by some people who had issues with his poor record, attention seeking, and even his hair care products.

I started this to mock the silliness of that thread, hence the "Grecian Formula" reference.

For those of us who do not read the football forum, your reference was missed entirely. It only served to make you look ridiculous. Thank you for correcting that misinterpretation.

And I don't read the football forum, don't care about anything else sports related with WMU other than hockey. Thats why I read and post ONLY only on the hockey forum

If Dip (an appropriate name for him I might add) has absolutely nothing "hockey related" to contribute to the hockey forum, he should not be posting and certainly not create threads like this.

Hope the moderator is reading this.

RE: Fire Murray
You know, I find it interesting reading peoples comments about Murray's defensive play and how it stifles our offense, etc...

Looking at our first year in the NCHC, WMU was 4th in 5x5 scoring GPG:

SCSU 2.31
UNO 1.93
UMD 1.92
WMU 1.89
UND 1.76
CC 1.33
Miami 1.21
DU 1.17

And where did UND finish???

And how is it that Balisy finishes 2nd in the league in points, only 1 point shy of the league leader, on a team who's power play struggled all year??? So he is getting all of his points in Murray's restrictive defensive system?

Murry's system is very capiable of producing adequate offense and forwards can be league leaders

We start playing in Lawson soon, I see a good run coming from this group. Young and getting crushed by the refs, they're going to have to adjust sooner or later. They were hawking the line changes at DU like nobody's business.
