Being a stAte guy I am partial to an OC that runs up tempo. My problem with this list is Gran is not impressive and I am sure how much Lashlee actually calls the plays. If it's a DC I would want someone willing to get a good OC willing to run a no holds barred offense. I just question how much smash mouth football works at our level. Besides I think it can be boring.

I answered this as if Troy were my school, not who I would hire for my school.

Seeing how it's worked for us I really can't see a difference.

Steve Campbell wouldn't be my first choice for A-State. But if I were picking for Troy I would go for him. I think he covers a lot of bases for them.

I've met Campbell many times and he's a nice guy and he's won every he's been (and done so while moving up the ranks in football) so no doubt that wouldn't be a bad get

Considering Lashlee is practically Malzahn's protégé, I don't think you could go wrong with that hire

How much is Troy willing to pay for the HC position? Guys like Collins, Orgeron, Lashlee and Bobo aren't coming to Troy or consider the position unless you are willing to pay upwards of $800,000 plus. Otherwise I think those names are wishful thinking.

of course no one really knows what Troy is going to pay. But I have heard from people that do work for the university that we are prepared to pay 800k and upwards.

RE: Who would be your pick.
Rhett Lashlee makes 350k...I doubt we would have to pay 800k to convince him to come to Troy.

Collins makes 575k at MSU

Bobo also makes 575k at UGA

The thing with hotshot offensive coordinators is that they need to go where they can win quick. Troy may not be that and may need a rebuilder type.

No disrespect to JSU... But he was paid around 170k at JSU.... Uab offered him 600k it's a no brainer. Not to mention if he only won 4 games at Uab (which he has already done) he would be a savior

That is one concern in addition to quality of life for his family, athletic fundraising and long term commitments to the football program. Many coordinators in the SEC and Big 12 won't consider SBC programs period. If money is the only concern, we all could attract top flight coordinators from P5 programs.

RE: Who would be your pick.
The problem isnt that a man would move on to better pay etc...

the problem imo comes when a person lies to the last second. Abandons his team without a word and tries his best to take all he can as he leaves.
All this at his own alma mater.

perhaps many of you would act in such a manner. Perhaps many of you condone such behavior.
Of course perhaps many of you lack a moral compass and behave as cowards and not men.

I would like to also add there is no sour grapes we have a better team this year than last. I believe uab hired the wrong coach. And up from 3 wins to 4 is no sign of anything.

RE: Who would be your pick.
Mike Turk. HC experience, history with Troy, and obtainable.

Not a flashy name but neither was Joey Jones. Go for substance over flash when you have to build or re-build. Jones has ties to Mobile and wanted to become a household name here, Turk may feel the same for Troy and it could give him the drive necessary to build.

An OC at a school experiencing heavy success is not going to risk their career to go rebuild a program at a SBC school, or at least should not. An older individual on the tail-end of their coaching career may not have the drive. I don't know how old Turk is, exactly, but someone like Ed may be burnt out at this point.

So if Troy hired Grass out from JSU and he told all the fans he was leaving you would be ok with that?

RE: Who would be your pick.
If grass was offered a better job. And he, like a man, just said this is better for me and my family and im gonna take it. Yes.
I believe this will happen soon enough.
I believe after having met him on several occasions he is an man and not some slimy character.

Bill Clark went about preaching values about family that he doesnt have. Imo
