Just wait until MSU comes to Waldo next year. It will blow those numbers out of the water. I'd say 36 - 38K or so with the stands and the hills full.

Me not included. I get so sick of seeing the Big 10 I don't even want to see them polluting our field. They're there to see MSU not WMU.

But with another strong recruiting class added to this one coming in, I'd like to see how they do.

Do we know if it's Week 1 yet?

Just take it one game a time though. Be excited for the win and the future but tomorrow be looking to Miami.

You guys won't break the MAC attendance record set by Toledo back in 2001 against Navy when they had over 36,000. I'll put money on that. I haven't seen a MAC crowd come close to that in years, even when big name opponents come into town.

Why was that game so highly attended anyway? Opening night?

Top 10 MAC Home Games 2014:

30,479 UMass v Boston College, 8/30
25,531 Central Michigan v Syracuse, 9/13
25,211 Ohio v Idaho, 9/20
24,714 Buffalo v Baylor, 9/12
24,311 Ohio v Bowling Green, 10/11
24,196 Toledo v Missouri, 9/6
23,717 Bowling Green v Indiana, 9/13
23,027 Ohio v Eastern Illinois, 9/27
22,792 Miami v Kent State, 10/25
22,754 Kent State v Ohio, 8/30

Just wait until MSU comes to Waldo next year. It will blow those numbers out of the water. I'd say 36 - 38K or so with the stands and the hills full.

You guys won't break the MAC attendance record set by Toledo back in 2001 against Navy when they had over 36,000. I'll put money on that. I haven't seen a MAC crowd come close to that in years, even when big name opponents come into town.

WMU has pulled in 36,000 to Waldo before. Think it was in 2000 or so against Indiana State. Also pulled close to that against Indiana in 2007.

Yeah, yeah, yeah it was just tickets sold, but Miami just had our largest attendance since 2009. That can be credited to the fact it was family weekend, though it looked like plenty left after halftime.

Nicely attended game in the first half. Home side was mostly full and even the student section looked decent.

Pepsi bought 10k tickets for the EMoo game. The other nearly 10k were actual people. :)

RE: MAC Avg Home Attendance (through Week 9)
What I learned from this thread:

Next year's MSU @ WMU game could approach or exceed (if the fire marshal approves) the MAC home (campus) record of 36K.

WMU is hitting it perfect. Their program is ascending and the game could be competitive, even though MSU has ascended to the highest levels of collegiate football.

BTW, lot of MSU fans will want to watch what could be an interesting game. MSU fans scrambled to buy a lot of tickets for the game in Mt. Pleasant two (?) years ago.

There are a lot of MSU fans in SW Michigan (seen the Facebook analysis that WMU trails MSU in their own community).

WMU will need a good plan to 'ration' tickets for the game or else MSU could easily bring 10K+ to that game.

That game should be a great day for MAC football.

Getting back to Saturday's attendances. I watched the WMU game and the crowd was impressive.

NIU fans should just really just shut the heck up talking about someone else's attendance.

That's why I say WMU needs to bring in some temporary high bleachers for that Friday Night Game. They could take it out later or whatever, as the next home game would be weeks away. Sure, it'd cost more, but to add a few more thousand would be good.

And you can cram a ton of people on the grass that slopes against it.

IMO, it's going to hit near 40k. If we add in some bleachers to end corners -- we'll hit 40k on that one. It's going to be LOUD AS HELL out there. Waldo contains noise extremely well.

NIU fans should just really just shut the heck up talking about someone else's attendance.

We had really crappy scheduling which didn't help but yea, it's pretty silly to rip a different school for attendance. I think what people were making fun of was the difference between reported and actual people in the stands. But since some schools just report tickets sold, that's just how it is.

Well, I think it's a combo of attendance + record.

If you have a Great Record, it's not talking Smack against said team with a low attendance. It's more like "Hmmm, you guys could Really pump some marketing capital into your games..."

If you have a Bad Record, and they also have Faux Inflated numbers -- then people get itchy about that. Especially when other teams in the MAC would be notably lower but (more) legit.

I think the EMU thing is about the Faux Attendance concept. Especially when many other MAC schools are really Wanting to hit the 20k mark -- they don't want another team's faux numbers nearly reaching that when they really had half or less, ya know? But hey, I'll shut up....

Hard to compare attendance numbers when you have some schools reporting tickets sold and other schools reporting actual people in the stadium.
