Count of tickets sold, I'm sure. Which is legal, even assuming the NCAA was enforcing attendance rules. Which I don't think they are.

It was a beautiful day and I do not think that it is a dead horse. If it did not matter then why lie?
Western had a what looked like a mostly packed house today and our attendance was 20,255. At any one time, we had more people waiting in line for the men's room then were seen in that pic of EMU.

Really sucks going to games there, but I make the trip to cheer on the Rockets since it's so close. Atmosphere for football and basketball games are just horrific. At least Toledo usually comes out with a W and brings more fans than Emu does.

WMU's announced attendance was just over 20k.

Try to spot the difference between these two pictures! Pic from Waldo today:

I counted over 150. I'm bringing Wolowitz's Stadium Pal next time I go to Western.

I'm not here to defend EMU but that's obviously a pre-game pic. Also, its 2014, are there really people out there that still don't know that attendance numbers come from tickets sold and not from a turnstile counter?

I believe NIU does turnstile still.

Western does turnstile.
It hurt us on our first game (CommuniverCity) as the weather was bad and half of the crowd in the corporate tent city never even went into the game. A good 5 or 6 thousand tickets sold, never got counted toward attendance because the holders did not stay for the game.

I agree with Dexter. The EMU home crowd is larger than UT's traveling fans. Its a game they usually turn out for.
I have been to atleast 10 EMU v. UT games at Rynearson and can't think of 1 we actually outnumbered them.

RE: EMU Attendance Today...
This game was clearly one where tix were bought enmass for attendence purposes. (Pepsi I believe).
This games tix had on odd pricing feature: the normal presale GA 12$ price was broken into a 7$ ticket and a 5$ fee. I believe this allowed us to sell the tix to Pepsi for ~3$ and have them count toward attendence. I have been to all home games this year and this was the worse attended by far and the first with the tix price broken down like that.

Lastly, I was at the UT-EMU mens bball in Ypsi last year and UT fans did not outnumber EMU fans.

That picture was clearly taken a long time before kickoff. I'm under no illusions, it was an awful crowd. But that picture was not at kickoff.

As for 'how we get away with it,' we get away with it through the same means that every other team in the conference gets away with it. Miami reported this crowd as 9,000+ last season.

Tix sold hurts us for first game as families of new EMU students get in free. 3-5k attend the game and do not get counted.
