We were worse than that Rex's first year after the walkout from the Williamson years

I would even say that we were worse. Sadly.
To make matters worse, most of those guys that we have in the NFL now...played for Porter.

We all thought he was a good hire at first too. Had won a division 1AA national title. But when he and Sparkman got into it ..... Boom it was OVA fast

I think he missed his calling to the Ministry and somehow ended up coaching football.

We lost 49-7 at Army, in the several inches of snow, with astro-turf cleats, and no jackets, at about 20 degrees. Yes Dempsey was narcissistic, delusional and paranoid, but that team was not bad. Go back and look at the draft picks. About five or so were drafted, Harris, Walker, Long, Elder, Burroughs, and a few others that I can think of that came very close. Hooper, Oliver, Lovelady, Jerry Harris, (Wasn't Eric "Cocaine" Fairs drafted as well?) very stacked team. Great athletes, crazy a$$ coach.

Dude, we were way worst than SMU under Porter. Today, SMU put 10 points on the board on us. No way, we would have put up 10 under Porter. I sat out there at the LB with Porter games and half time we were always 3 to 4 touchdowns behind at half time.
We were in a couple of games with porter at least...
49-3 at half to ASU?
Nothing can be worse than that...

RE: Were we ever as bad as SMU?
Even recently yes...bottom stretch had to be:
Middle of 2010 season...in order...
Tulsa 7-48
At Louisville 0-56
Southern Miss 19-41
Houston 17-56
Tennessee 14-50
Team finished that year stronger and actually improved quite a bit the following year, although the were a few really bad games.
The above five game stretch was as bad as it gets.

Porter's worst games were worse than smu today. Some games he couldn't even get a play run or the team to line up right.

Add to that our roster of zero and one stars. And our amazing lack of depth. If we could match up with talent, it didn't last into the 3rd quarter. Bloody awful.

The Tigers at their best have never been as as good as the Mustangs at theirs.

I remember both....I think the Porter team of 2010 was by far the worst. Dempsey's teams were somewhat competitive anyway.

We were badly coached but the players were skilled enough to play much better. Several are key for us this year.

I remember those guys. But, that team self destructed at the end of the season. There wasn't really a team to speak of at the end. Coach got fired. Bad times.

Yep, that humiliating debacle in Jonesboro almost made me give up.
Almost.
But I realized then that beatdown was the nail in Porter's coaching coffin. The truth is Larry just wasn't ready, and several assistants sandbagged his regime.
Comparing Porter to Fuente is like comparing Mr. Rogers to Conan the Barbarian.
Now his buddy, Capt. Kangaroo was one bad dude.
