Pretty much every non-FSU fan thought ending the Bowden era in Tallahassee was a horrible thing to do to the man. Now basically everybody realizes that coaches like Brown and beamer are/were done and the sooner they leave the better. Interesting.

Those were the same folks who insisted that Joe Paterno should be allowed to stay on as long as he wanted. The coaches with the strongest legacies are the ones who were thought to have retired too early, not too late.

Beamer just needs a young up-and-coming OC to recruit players and change up the O. Let the OC call plays, let Bud work out the D. Then sit back and manage the team. Loeffler does not appear to be a very good OC.

Always an ugly situation. It's no fun to blow a guy like Beamer or Bowden out.

However...it's just the way it is.

If they are already thinking/considering retirement, then they're already retired. You WANT Beamer, Bowden, etc to think they can turn it around...otherwise they're just stealing money.

That means...when it's time, it's time. Yeah, Bowden was pissed. People were offended that he was chippy about it...not me, not a bit. If he WASN'T pissed, that would mean he wasn't just not getting the job done...it would mean he'd been knowingly taking money for a job he didn't think he could do. I'm glad that to the end he thought he was going to turn it around.

It's ok if they're mad. They're big boys. They know the deal. They don't have to like it.

It's up to the school to TRY to do it with as much class as possible, but these guys have made MILLIONS. They get stadiums and fields named after them. They aren't OWED more than that after a point. Nobody is talking about trying to blow them out of town after a single year of slippage.

Many millions of dollars, plus all the honors a program can possibly bestow on someone, plus multiple years to turn it around, plus an opportunity to leave gracefully and make it look like their own choice. Beyond that it's hard to argue that they're owed anything. Coaches know the deal...you either leave a few millions and a few good seasons on the table like Osborne or Alvarez...or this is the way it ends. It's their choice, and I don't fault them either way they choose. But it's no surprise to them, even if they don't like it, they know the deal.

Duh! He followed Malzahn at Auburn and took us from near the top of the SEC to dead last in a year. I couldn't figure out how in the heck he got hired at Virginia Tech!
