RE: Lincoln Riley to SMU
I would hate having to go up against his offenses. He has really come into his own, really evolving from a pure Air Raid to a more balanced offense that is very tough to stop.

I am worried he would end up being like pretty boy at Texas Tech. Lots of fluff.

I promise, his offenses are anything but fluff. The thing that is so impressive with him is how he finds amazing players out of no where like finding Tay Cooper who was a QB at a small Juco and converted him into a back to back 1,000 yd rusher. I also think he identified Justin Hardy a walk on.

I know our AD spoke to him when we played ECU, just have not heard anything about it.

That would seem odd to talk to an acting assistant coach on a gameday about an open position.

He is nothing like that joke at Texas Tech….Dude is an intense competitor and very demanding of his player. He is a relentless recruiter and is all business. The players like playing for him but they also have a healthy respect for him as well. If Coach Ruff was to leave tomorrow I would feel very comfortable with him taking over our team….He is going to be a very successful coach at the highest levels of College Football, no doubt in my mind.

I would love to see him stay at ECU but we all know that is not possible..It is time for him to move on and advance his career, whether as an OC at a high profile P5 school or as a Head Coach at the G5 level. Going to miss him but I wish him the best and will pull for him and whatever team he is coaching as long as they are not playing ECU.

Doubt it happened in that manner...

That would be a serious breach of etiquette on both parts if true.

That was what I was thinking…No issues with that scenario for an initial conversation on both sides.

Riley would be perfect for SMU. He is from Texas too, so that would make it even better.

4 million a year for old man Mack Brown. I bet Lincoln would take the job for half that...and do better.
