Apology, mad...I hate this, it makes me crazy.

Let's wait for the years too late athletic vision in a couple of months... I'm confident that we are in a good position and this will be "interesting to watch" as per Bourne in the paper this morning.

All we can do is watch.
I can tell you that there is one person in the administration that wants to move up, and has wanted it for years. His name is Jeff Bourne. You can hate on him all you want, for a number of things, but at the end of the day, he wants what you want. People are in positions everyday where their boss/bosses won't let them make a move that they feel is right.
I know this to be true personally, and you should know it to be true with comments he has made in the past, and gotten in trouble for.

Mad, that's not totally true.

Bourne is 100% against the SBC, and has been for years.

He may want FBS, but he also wants it conditionally.

I'm not saying he is wrong.

Still, this article (and our predictable response) is painful for me.

Bourne wanted to move up before the sun belt was even an option. Had he been allowed to make the moves we needed, purple hazed wouldn't have an ulcer and you wouldn't have to read painful articles. And even if he wanted the sun belt, would be be able to make that move? No

Leaders don't sit in a position with tied hands for twenty years. If it's strategically the right move and the boss says no, you move on to a better situation. Your claim is exactly why I refer to Bourne as a squatter which is exactly what he is if you are correct. The "I want it but I can't" back and forth between king/rose/alger/bourne is weak leadership, there is no blaming the invisible man at their pay grades.

Yea, Rose. Dude had his foot out the door since about 2009, imo.

The thing that also hurts about that guy's decision is that we have lost some truly good DC employees who would have made a potential transition easier.

"All we can do is watch." The time has finally come...they have finally gotten what they have wanted all along..."we want to but we can't do anything about it now, be patient".

Where was Bourne and the others when we f****** could do something about it? Those years were when thousands of us were begging for vision and getting no communication and you know it...

Cmon 20 years, this is your problem your obsession with this topic has prevented you from being realistic. 5 years of realignment, he got stonewalled, He found out that rose was leaving, and was hoping for a new president that was more open to moving, just like we were. He got one that was slightly more open, but many of the doors are closed.
So I guess what you are soooo mad about is that he didn't fall on the sword, lose his job, put his families livelihood in jeopardy, for the sake of TRUE LEADERSHIP.
Hazed I'm not trying to change your mind, clearly that's not happening. I would like to add a little perspective so hopefully you go from being at a 10 daily, to perhaps a 6 or a 7

Posters like purple hazed and dukeman make this board pretty unreadable at most times. There is no variance in their posts, its just the same rehashed criticisms of the admin a lot of people feel, just on repeat.

I honestly think its because we lack another fan base to talk trash to. We have no common enemy to rail against. No ODU, no mason, no vcu. WM and UD are still left i suppose. Every other fan base either A) has no fans or B) has no standing to even come over here. Life was a lot more fun when all we did was talk trash to other schools.

"Keep being diligent about making folks aware of what your intent is and what you want to do.”

Actually I thought this was the most apropos quote from the article, and I found it ironic that it was from someone named Rose

Call this nitpicky on my part but Matt Jones use of I-A & I-AA bothers me. That, along with some of his other writing quirks reminds me of his amateur writer status.
Too bad Selig was talented and ambitious.

Selig was the basketball beat writer. Perhaps you are thinking back to Barber?

Matt Jones provides by far the best coverage since Barber. But you hit the nail on the head - he uses I-A vs I-AA terminology b/c everyone knows what that means ---- most casual fans have absolutely ZERO idea what FCS means, that is why when you see it in the media it is 'FCS (I-AA)'
