Give us Liberty or give us death
The Sun Belt needs a shot in the arm and Liberty can provide that.

They have shown they can play with the Sun Belt's best with their victory over ASU-Boone. Liberty, GSU-Statesboro and ASU-Boone would be a great trio as the Belt's flagship programs.

It probably just showed how weak Liberty is to beat a 1-5 team only in overtime.
Imagine the win did more damage than good for LU as far as the SBC is concerned.

Regarding App... Are they redshirting a bunch of kids this season?

I know during our 4-8 year, we had a HUGE amount of redshirted kids (or what seemed like a lot to me), because Fran knew there was no chance of us getting a bowl invite. In essence, he was playing for the future. Irritated a bunch of the fans, but I can understand the rationale.

Just curious if App was doing something similar.

Absolutely. Ton of them. Did take the red shirt off a couple a week or two ago though because they needed them to play.

I figure all three happen (in addition to Idaho finding a new home) inside of 5 years.

I made several that we would lose. Since the game was scheduled probably said both. Especially that we would lose after last year's record, or the five losses we had going into the game. But have no doubt you are correct also. Will be glad when we finish transition and become FBS and do not have to be concerned so much with banking players so we can win more each year.
You have a pretty good team knucklehead. Don't let it go to your head. Ha, ha....couldn't resist. You guys take care. I am still ticked about the loss.

Hey, hey now! App's my favorite SBC team. Don't go putting them down. I think they looked pretty good against Troy. The season is young, it's too early to judge. Go getem APP!

Appalachian State is a great addition to the SBC. So is Georgia State, but although I respect Liberty's athletic program and wish them well. Most fans do not want them in the Sun Belt Conference. Y'all need to get in the SoCon with the likes of Furman, Samford, Chattanooga and VMI. No offense, but the Flames would not be a good fit in the Belt.

To be clear: App State is not a good addition for this season. They are struggling. But thank goodness we don't do one year additions. I think it'll be safe to say in another year or 3, App will prove itself to be a REALLY good addition.

Thanks for the clarification, Rev. Not many teams moving up from FCS are the perfect match at first. Georgia Southern is certainly the exception.

Not trying to be a jackarse here, but you just lumped Chattanooga with four private schools? Other than being in the same conference, they have absolutely NOTHING in common with those schools.

Also remember, Liberty beat Appalachian with 22 less scholarships to give and recruiting typical Big South/FCS players. While it keeps happening again and again, there aren't many circumstances that FCS teams, particularly Big South teams should be beating any FBS teams (though Charleston Southern was a ridiculous penalty call away from knocking Vanderbilt off).

Do not believe that App has the full 85 yet.

And App is not an FBS team yet. They are transitional.

BIG difference.
