Good Minium Take On Henincke's NFL Potential
Quote:ODU is playing its first season in the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Monarchs (3-4) have lost three in a row.

Yet, in spite of it all, Heinicke's stature as an NFL prospect appears to have been enhanced.

RE: Good Minium Take On Henincke's NFL Potential
There was someone that speculated a couple weeks ago that Heinicke had a better draft shot if we stayed in the FCS. I disagreed with that, but didn't really have any type of support for doing so. I think Harry's article lends some support to, "hey, the NFL isn't dumb and considers the talent levels when judging QBs"

At this point I have my mind made up that he's a 6th round choice.

RE: Good Minium Take On Henincke's NFL Potential
looking at the list of the all time college passers in that article, if he has a 300 yard game this weekend, he'll move into 9th place just behind Colt Brennan who he should pass at some point. once he passes Brennan, #7 is McNair and he'll have to throw another 1000 yards or so by the end of the season to catch him. he'll probably have to do that by the 2nd to last game to catch Kellen Moore who's in 6th place, but not by much.

so if he avg's 300 yds/gm for the these last 5 games, he'll finish with 14798 which will put him in sixth place (barely) ahead of Kellen moore and behind Ty Detmer. To catch Detmer to move into 5th place all time, he'll need to avg about 347/gm the rest of the way. this time last year I would have said no problem there, but not so much this year. if anyone can do it though, its him.

He has been holding at No. 13 at NFLdraftscouts.com for two months now, and they project him as a 6th/7th round pick or a free agent. If he closes out the season strong, I could see him moving up a little into the top ten and possibly being a 4th/5th round pick. Unfortunately, his height and small hands will continue to limit how far up he can move in the draft, but I think there is a relatively good chance at this point that he will go in the 5th or 6th round.

I'm sick of "Oh, he's too small". As long as he can make the reads, someone will take a chance. Drew Brees is listed as 6 foot and has a Super Bowl ring to his resume. He can play in the league.

Heinicke just improved his stock. That was one of the best games up he's played.

What a difference Anderson and butler make. I think we have an extra win or 2 if they were healthy, but injuries are going to happen every year.

Tough one.

Butler did not play yesterday. Bobby said he likely will be out for the year after suffering a setback in practice this week.
