Boca Raton Bowl Accommodations
Heard today that the Conference USA team will be staying at The Boca Raton Hotel and Resort in Boca. The Mid American Conference team will be at The PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. Both great places. Don't think a trip to Boise or Detroit will beat this one for the teams or the fan bases. I know it's unlikely, but I personally would like to see a Marshall-Toledo match-up if the powers that be would let it happen.

Isn't the Detroit bowl bid for the MAC now nonexistent?

CUSA champion gets to choose where they go.

If Marshall wins the conference and isn't in an access bowl, I highly doubt they'd turn down playing a B10 team in Dallas for a 4th MAC team in a CUSA stadium.

As I posted, I know it's unlikely.

I dunno. If you live in Northern Ohio or in MI -- going to Ford Field I think would be more preferable than a big flight down south.

Okay, not as glamorous. :) But it is a quick trip during the Holidays... more "at home".

Direct flight Detroit to West Palm is about 2.5 hours. Nice thing about the Boca Bowl is you could get back home in time for Xmas or spend part of the day at the beach.

Players told me it sucks, because you stay in a casino in detroit, youre not allowed to leave the hotel because its sketchy and you cant gambell even if youre 21. Not many activities in december besides sporting events of the red wings and pistons.

Does MAC champ have a specific bowl? Does our tie in with the potatoe ever end?

I believe they're suppose to go to the GoDaddy.com Bowl. But there is some wheeling and dealing going on. Especially because the Bowls are ESPN events and for the Boca Raton Bowl since the Orange Bowl people have gotten involved. Boca Bowl teams are supposed to be announced December 7th. So far it seems to be 3 MAC schools often mentioned.

Boca seems like a great place to go - accommodations seem 5* and you get FLA sunshine.

Part of a bowl game experience includes the tailgating, possible parade, and great game day atmosphere. Detroit offered none of those opportunities. It may be convenient from a traveling and monetary perspective, but any other bowl game outside of Detroit is more appealing to me and I know many other Rocket fans...

Its a secondary, as AFAIR its the last in the ladder for both the Big Ten and the ACC, so if either do not have enough teams to fill all their slots, its Detroit that will be looking for a back up Go5 conference school.

Assuming the short-odds bet that that BigTen doesn't send a school to the CFP, it could come down to the result of the Rutgers/Maryland game whether the Big Ten has schools for all of its slots.

As far as the "number one pick", I don't think its a rotation between two bowls that way it was supposed to be the last few years, I think there's leeway to make match-ups and to avoid sending schools to the same bowl too frequently.

Carmen Electra had a Halloween Party at Blue Martini in Boca the other night. She still looks great at the the ripe old age of 42. Not bad for a girl from Sharonville.
