Those girls were Austrian. However, I think I read where three American teenagers tried to get to Syria but were turned away in Germany (?) and put on a plane back to the US.

You appear to be correct. Replace American with Austrian/German/French/British etc. etc...same basic concept...a cute white girl from a wealthy western nation.

I gotcha. I wasn't sure myself so I just checked. Maybe they'll return home and realize just how good they actually had it before venturing to locoland.

Impressionable is a descriptive of the set, not something meant to apply to all teenage girls. Second, I should have written: "Impressionable teenage girls, and boys,..."

My goodness... Really? You actually think there are teenage girls that are NOT impressionable?

Yes, I think there are plenty of level headed teenage girls. Nonetheless, impressionable is a scale.

Just like anything else, the outliers make the news.

In Minnesota the Feds are putting a maximum effort to break up what they think is a 3 or 4 person Recruiting Cell that is actively sending people to both Somalia and Syria.

There was an article in HuffPo headlined: Video Appears To Show Islamic State Militants Stoning A Woman To Death

On cue, the first comment ('liked' by 192 people) in the thread below:

Quote:With regard to women, what's the difference between a rightwing fundamentalist Christian and a fundamentalist Islamist? Answer: The overtness with which they practice their misogyny.

These apologist/moral equivalencies are part of the reason why we can't have nice things.

Give them some credit and be a little charitable to their word choice...

To me it just points out how many folks are walking around with untreated mental illnesses. Both those who would bury and stone a woman and ALSO those who would try to create an equivalence with those who disagree with their own views on issues.

Those interested in time travel can go back to the 7th century by moving to the Islamic State.

"pretty" and "smart" don't always come in the same girl.
