Then people will be standing in the concourse instead of the Big Blue Room.

Why go to the game then?

Just stay at home if you want to watch football.

For me, I think it would make for a great day to watch the football team in the Big Blue room and then catch the second half of the VCU game in person.....or catch bits and pieces of the football game at interesting points.

I could understand if there is a ton of demand of basketball seats and people wanting to get will be left out, but I really doubt that is the case.

We are playing freaking VCU. I don't know if you follow ODU Basketball history that closely but hearing stuff like this blows my mind. The biggest basketball game of the year by far and you want to "catch the second half" after watching us play FAU??

I really hope the the majority of those who packed the Ted for years don't follow suit. If so, we are in trouble.

They should give the consumer an option. When you dictate how a product is consumed you open yourself up for criticism.

The consumer has the option. They can go to a sports bar or watch the football game from home or they can go to the Ted and watch the basketball game.

Awful argument. You bought a ticket for the basketball game not a football game. They wouldn't be dictating anything by not showing the FAU game during the VCU game. They have zero obligation to do so.

It's really simple. If you want to watch the football game, stay home. Simple.

If you are going to show up for basketball, support it.

How about we start showing the Soccer games on the video board at the football games?

The consumer has the option. They can go to a sports bar or watch the football game from home or they can go to the Ted and watch the basketball game.

Then they are dissuading people from attending and that is one of their options. I would choose an inclusive route. Besides most everyone would just watch the basketball game anyways. Maybe 100 ODU Football fans who don't like ODU-VCU would choose to remain in the BBR.

That is how I would handle it. Personally I'll be watching the basketball game.

Soccer? Don't know how to respond to that reach. We are talking about a unique situation.

I've followed ODU basketball for over 25 years. I went to plenty of games at Scope and at the fieldhouse.

I understand the history with VCU. VCU is now a non-conference foe that, while I'd love to beat, is simply that. This is 1 game out of 20+ on the schedule. I'd love to win them all, but the ramifications of a win/loss to VCU aren't any more than a win vs. Rice, a conference foe.

There are only 12 football games a year and this could possibly be the biggest game of the year as it could have possible bowl ramifications. It also happens to very likely be the last ODU football game for Taylor Heinicke.

You may have a difference of opinion than me and that's fine. The more diehard basketball fans the better. FYI, I've been at the Ted the past couple years (season tix to both) where I could count the number of people in my section with my fingers so I will take all the basketball support I can get.

IMO, a bowl game would do much more to this university (and me) than a regular season win vs. VCU. Maybe that's just my opinion, but I doubt I'm the only on that feels that way.

Novel idea. During bball timeouts why don't they put the game on the jumbotron in the Ted.

Ramifications? Really? When talking about VCU. Please check with Roget. Thanks.02-13-banana

RE: November 29th Conundrum
Ram fans still laugh at ODU's decision to start football and the small bumps we encounter on our transition into FBS. I honestly don't know if it's jealousy, lack of knowledge (mostly FCS recruits and freshmen playing established programs), hate of football, or just hate towards anything ODU.

I also find it funny how closely they follow our football program on their own message board.

That being said...
I have to watch both of these games on tv. I'm stuck in Richmond that whole weekend.

RE: November 29th Conundrum
My main request to ticket holder is DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE SELL OR GIVE YOUR TICKETS TO VCU FANS!! Maybe we can have the ticket office work out a system where those not attending can call in. The ticket office can disperse those tickets to military or local students that are NOT from Richmond or have any tell tale signs of being afflicted with VCU leanings!! It's going to be bad enough that there will be empty seats I can't bear the idea of the majority of the attendees are wearing puppy s*#t, mustard yellow.

My last hope it that Dominion Power has a mysterious blackout at the TED that starts at noon (in time to announce a delay of the game) and doesn't come back online till 5PM. Not that I'm advocating sabotage or anything like that....

Nick C is on with WS right now. A whole lot of UNC, Texas, Wood Selig Day but sadly nothing on the latest schedule related Basketball news.

I suggested to Drew at ODAF to have a watch party in the BBR until 10 minutes prior to tip-off. Shut it down and tape the second half of the FB game and show it as soon as the BB game is over. The only problem is if keeping the final score quiet

So I am starting to see this as a Dueling Banjos situation. The football game is on a jumbotron in the Big Blue Room and the b-ball game is on the court. As the excitement rises for each game the crowd surges back and forth to watch whichever one is most exciting at the moment. Eventually in a frenzy the crowd goes wild as ODU beats VCU and emerges as bowl eligible behind our hero TH. Pure joy in Monarch land. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gNuj8UkyC4
