1/2/14- We hired a guy who went 11-20 and might have been a year away from getting fired from American to take over the job from a drunk who was left on the job way too long and no one thinks wood deserves to lose his job over this? You wonder why we haven't landed a single recruit for next year? Because jones has zero name recognition with anyone who is under 40. He hasn't been relevant since the mid 90's......and yet we were expecting him to come in and start recruiting better than Blaine? Seriously?
1/4/14- Paul Hewitt is literally one of a handful of coaches in all of college basketball I wouldn't trade jones for.
He can recruit circles around Jeff
Raise expectations......if that means firing wood and jones and bringing in a winner.....that's what needs to happen. Actually that's what SHOULD happen

I still don't like Jeff jones as our coach. That hasn't changed. You'll never convince me wood selig didn't just hire his buddy after a sham interview process.
It's literally the only explanation for hiring a coach who went 11-21 at American university the season before he was hired.
I also don't think he will ever get us to that "next level", the way Blaine Taylor never could.
But be that as it may, he's done a solid job so far in his time here. He's recruited decently enough (again, not those next level recruits) but he's righted what was a completely sinking ship.
I can give him credit for doing a good job without changing my overall opinion on him being the wrong long term hire.
I'm sorry you aren't able to comprehend my point of view but I'm hardly surprised.
