I think the result would have been Cincy. It would take only four blackballs to keep either WVa or UConn out. UConn had diehard blackballs from BC, FSU, and Clemson. WVa would had UVa, Duke, and perhaps GT, Pitt, and VT.

Miami and GT had no reason to vote for UConn.

I don't think either school could get 11 votes at that time and Cincy would not encroach into anyone's existing turf. I think it that scenario WF, Pitt, and VT would the de facto final decision makers and whatever those three agreed upon will pull 8 other votes.

Pitt would have likely supported WVU. They tried to create a package with them to take to the B12 when the Big 12 first asked Pitt and then recommended WVU to the ACC when they got the ACC invite.

Not sure where you are heading with the last part of your statement. Since Pitt was #14, were they recommending that the ACC take WVU as #15?

Myself, I always felt the ACC should have taken SU, Pitt, WVU, and UL back in 2011 simply from a sports perspective, but I never thought the latter two would ever happen.

Cheers,
Neil

I think that he means as a #15 (full member) if the ACC ever decided to go to 16 full members. This doesn't matter, but I'm pretty sure SU got in before Pitt. I'm basing that purely on the '91 phone call, the '98 plan (admittedly which also involved Pitt), the '02 fiasco, and SU's generally amicable relationship with BC (not that Pitt isn't on friendly terms with everyone as well).

I thought the ACC should've taken Rutgers in 2011. I think either Pitt or Cuse would've still been available for the ACC to pick up later.

RE: Revisionist history
Pitt was going to the Big XII so that's certainly not true. That's why that move happened so quickly. If the ACC had taken Rutgers then, the Big Ten probably picks up Syracuse to enter the New York market.
