Well, that's nice, I guess. No way in heaven or on earth would I go to Detroit for a bowl game.

I think as long as you have a pulse, can feed yourself, and wipe your hiney, you get to go to a bowl game

I think we will max out at 7 spots. I think Navy is in good position to get 6 wins. I also don't see any likely way the MAC will have 8 bowl eligible teams.

Yeah but we are the only MAC team with two losses. Unless we completely crater we should be getting a post season game. I think the MAC will be sending a couple 6 - 6 teams to bowls this season.

Even as a MAC fan, why would anyone want to watch a .500 team play another game. Don't you want the season to end at that point?

Its good for the MAC you need the 15 bowl practices to develop the younger players. This helps MAC teams get better and be less of "senior" teams. Also its a great experience for the players being able to do something.

AD's like JP dont like the detroit bowl dont wanna go to detroit and dont wanna get beat by a FCS school.

I see your points about the practices, but I would assume players of a 6-6 team just want the season to end also. The college bowl system is just way way way beyond a joke. Wake me up when there is a college football playoff system with universal access.

NO!

You want those 15 practices to help develop next years team. Those extra practices are also critical for the final 2 months of recruiting so that you can find out if you have any surprise gaps that you might be able to fill on signing day.

If every single P5 team at 6-6 didn't get to go bowling either then ok but as long as they get the extra reps then so should all the GO5 teams.

Yeah I am sure the senior class, many of who have been playing football their entire life and never will again, wouldn't want a chance to put on the pads one more time.

Uhhhhhhh

RE: MAC Announces Backup Agreement with Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit
The Bowl is supposed to be fun. You got guys trying to get drafted you got young guys who are hungry. You got guys who might have been injured its a second shot on life.

You have 95 guys who love football on a team and trust me they want to play. The parents want to see them play. The coaches want to get their family somewhere outside of Dekalb.

Also I don't care what it costs the school its worth it in advertising and getting morale up.

Id love to take a poll of the senior class, to see if given a choice if you were 6-6 would want to A) play a meaningless game that everyone will spend the next month making fun of anyway or B) go home and catch up with friends and family and enjoy the holidays. I think many of us are caught in the pre-1990 bowl era when maybe it meant a little more.

Because it's OCC, and you're assuming said opponent isn't THAT much better. I wouldn't want a 6-6 MAC team to play a 6-6 B1G/ACC team unless the MAC team was on their way Up thru the season and the P5 team was only as good as their record indicated.

I wouldn't want to see a 6-6 Ohio get raped by 6-6 Miami-FL, no. But a 6-6 Boston College? Sure. UMass almost beat them.

The bowls never meant more than they do now, they've always been meaningless, they just meant more to you personally.
