I don't get the growth in Walls and Hernando....I don't understand how those areas are better than Tipton or Fayette County. They sure as heck have higher taxes.

RE: Fastest Growing Memphis-Area Cities
percentages can be misleading

need the other raw numbers (old and new populations)
to really see what is going on

All I ask is that ya'll in Piperton, please quit pissing off the cops so they will relax a bit and back off the speedtrap setup a bit. Worst part of the trip back to Memphis.

not sure if as bad or worse, but both definitely have a reputation on trying to snag people

Yeah, Piperton takes it upon themselves to be overly aggressive on speed traps. And they don't care if it's in the city limits or not.

They stopped a retired lawyer friend of mine who is involved with the state-wide Tea Party. They have legislative proposals regarding stops, searches, seizures, asset forfeiture, etc that they are working with lawmakers.

But in the meantime, yeah, watch it in Piperton. Even on 385. They like to hang out in the median.

Sheriff's Dept. can't use radar in Desoto County. Only the Police Dept. in cities is allowed to use them.

It really is that simple. Desoto schools are pretty good. Tipton and Fayette are terrible.

Fayette County is also close to nothing. That's fine if that's what you are looking for, but most working families won't live 20+ minutes from civilization. Tipton is in a better position in that it is closer to downtown and the CBD, but nobody will move there until the schools improve.

Interesting that you describe the Tipton County schools as "terrible." What stats are you basing that on?

That list just shows how long it has been since I've lived in Memphis. I don't recognize half of them.

Frankly, you need to get your facts straight. Tipton County has an excellent school system. Fayette, not so much. I am glad that nobody will move to Tipton County until the schools improve. We have had huge population growth over the last few years and have had to keep building more of those terrible schools to accommodate all the people moving in from Memphis and Shelby County. Maybe you can scare some of them off and stop our population explosion.

BTW, read the OP's link to see all the growth listed in Tipton County communities.

Before I moved the family here we were looking at 2 options - Tipton County and public schools or Fayette and private or home school. We were leaving the city one way or another....just did not realize it'd be 4 hours to the East. lol
