My understanding is athletic suite being setup at Rice Stadium is temporary. No more details available at this time. I'd use 'suite' loosely

Aside from the EZF, everything in HRS will have to come up to current codes. Lotta plumbing and electrics needed even if there's no real innovations.

Tent? Sort reminds me of the Pede cabanas several years back which got a workout for the Operation Sellout game but little use later on.

Not sure whether you are intending that as a knock on Pede or not. I will say this about both Mike and Steve Moniaci. They had some great ideas, but never the support of higher-ups to carry them out. They did the absolute best they could have done, given the incredibly short sticks they were handed to fight with. I was always amazed that they did as well as they did, given the circumstances. At least we HAD an Operation Sellout game.

Calling Pede a one armed paper hanger is a major upgrade. I saw no-one (and his staff) at Rice in that era who tried harder and did more with less. See "marketing" since then. He told me several years before he was let go that the marketing budget continued to be cut and he knew as well as anyone that to make money you had to spend money. I always felt that a major push was needed after the Oilers left and the cuts just continued.

Absolutely. Mike is a good friend (as is Steve) so I will admit that my comments may be somewhat biased. But anyone who criticizes the job that either of them did without understanding the constraints under which they operated is not being fair to them. I seriously don't know how anyone could possibly have done more with what they were given to work with.
On several occasions we had lunch or dinner or a drink or two or something, and we would discuss their plans. Had they ever gotten the support to implement them, we would be in a vastly different place today.
What was truly frustrating was that Bobby wouldn't push their ideas forward because of an expectation that some "they" in the administration wouldn't approve them. At the same time, I was talking to the ultimate "they," several members of the Board, who were expressing their extreme frustration that exactly that sort of plan was not forthcoming. It really was bizarro world.

Agree about Pede and Moniaci. The Operation Sell Outs were well done and what was impressive was they got people to actually go to the game. Too many times discounted tickets or free ones aren't used. Unfortunately the product on the field (especially the AFA game) kept anyone new to Rice football from wanting to come back.
Mike spent more time on baseball than anything else. But that is understandable because it was a product you could sell. I don't have the figures to back it up but I would guess that our best attendance and highest season ticket account happened under Pede.

You didn't go inside? For entertaining the really big donors.
Just kidding...of course if this was at UT it probably wouldn't be too far off.

Looks like a test for potential private boxes. I'd not appreciate blockage of the view from the concourse. A lot of us like to follow the line of scrimmage throughout the game and boxes at that level would certainly block the view.
I hope one of our Civ Eng's has inspected that bad boy thoroughly. What cumulative dead load can that thing handle? We don't want a UT v UH end zone stand fiasco in the papers!
Personally, I rather like it when structural supports are shown naked and not hidden. Where have I seen that before?

With a room like that you really do need to wear a fez.

Perhaps this is where JK can get some privacy with potential stadium donors. There really isn't any private viewing areas in the R room or Stadium Club.
Aztec put this up and I am betting it is pretty nice. The main "tent" for the Centinneal banquet was amazing.

Disappointed that on the entry list there were no belly dancers.

At the game it looked like it would kill the sight lines from the first 3-5 rows of the upper deck.
