I think Marshall could make it to the Fiesta Bowl. I give it about a 50/50 chance ECU loses another game. On top of that Marshall plays an extra game against CUSA champs of the other division. If ECU has to squeeze out almost-losses and Marshall keeps winning 44-20 -- a 13-0 Marshall may seem a bit more favorable than a 11-1 ECU -- if a 7-5 UCF & 6-6 VaTech are their biggest wins, while also losing to a 6-6 South Carolina.
I'd rather have a Good MAC team play the 2nd best in CUSA, although CUSA champs get to Choose whatever Bowl.
I imagine Marshall would NOT choose that one (high flight costs), and instead play the 'biggest bowl' -- Heart of Dallas Bowl vs a B10 team.
Our Bowls in the MAC are: (1) Bahamas, (2) Alabama, (1) Florida, (1) Idaho -- all are far out there.
We have 2 CUSA, 2 SunBelt, and 1 MW team. Assuming Marshall would go with the B10 team and not ours, I would assume the "best" competitive bowl would be Idaho -- possibly facing off against Boise. That'd be interesting for NIU to do.
Florida (Boca Raton Bowl) would be good, though. More fun for flyers, and cheaper than Bahamas I would imagine for fans to go to -- playing a CUSA team (LA-Tech, Mid-Tennessee). :)
