UAB HC Bill Clark said QB Cody Clements was banged up at the end of Saturday's loss at MTSU.

Clark on Clements: We’ll see how he progresses throughout the week, see if he can go.

More Clark on his team's QB situation:Jeremiah (Briscoe) and those other guys will be ready if he’s not.

UAB WR J.J. Nelson, who was hurt against MTSU, should be ready to go this week vs. Arkansas.

Bill Clark on J.J. Nelson:It was, I think, scary, you saw mass of humanity piling in there on him and he’s not a big guy.

More Clark on Nelson:He just really took some good shots there, with his stature, some of those guys that were hitting him were pretty big.

He probably shouldn't have been in at the end of Saturday's loss at MTSU.

Don't play Clements if his health is even a little bit of a concern.

We need CC & JJ healthy for FAU. I would hold them out as well. We need that FAU game. Losing to MTSU made that game big in my mind.

I feel we have to beat Southern Miss and that La Tech (especially at home) and FAU are swing games. anything against Marshall or Arkansas would just be a nice bonus.

Yeah, that would get us to 6. I'd love to beat FAU and LaTech, so USM couldn't derail everything. USM will have 16 days to prepare for us.

Sit Nelson to give your O a look into the future, I know JJ wants to prove he belongs in the big leagues and this game will help.

I knew losing a starter out the O backfield could end momentum either Howard or Clements as we dont have much behind them. Scared for McKee to actually meaningfully snaps this late in the teeth of the schedule.

I think you definitely don't force the issue with either player. FAU is now the season-maker. WKU was the first one and we responded favorably.

McKee has not been in any game with the entire playbook at his disposal. He came in very late at Homecoming with all running plays to use up clock and their defense knew it. I suppose he is #3 QB for good reasons so I don't expect a huge result from him, but it is not fair (for fans who have not seen him practice) to judge from the one game he got into with that limited play selection.

If Clement is not nearly 100% Saturday, he should be rested (for the balance of C-USA games) for most of the game and other QBs play most of the game.
