American Sports Network
Only bright spot this week in my selfish football corner was the production of the WKU FAU game as well as all of the CUSA games..First time watching this past weekend... I was surprised and thrilled with the production of all of these CUSA games by this network...Blows SB's rinky dink ESPN3, U Tues. night coverage out of water...I was expecting the games to not be HD but they were and it was nice to have for the most part knowledgeable announcers plus a halftime show that actually spent time on the CUSA schools involved in the game...NOt used to that compared to the crappy Sun Belt games I have watched over the years which was a infomercial for the upcoming SEC games of he week..Was also nice to see BIg Red featured at halftime, consider me impressed...

Hoping WKU has several basketball games on this network as well as more football games next season....The $14 I spend a month for the sports package on DIRECT TV is already worth it for me just based on the amount of CUSA games and quality in which they were done this past weekend...Well done American Sports and I am glad CUSA got this deal!

RE: American Sports Network
the HD production depends on which ASN broadcast gets it. CSN will almost always have theirs in HD only. NESN will have both SD/HD.

My only problem with ASN broadcasts (and actually with NBCSP broadcasts as well) is some sort of high-pitched whine that comes through. I hear it occasionally, my wife says it happens all the time when Ihave the TV on it.

Their graphics could use a little tweaking (they seemed kinda old-fashioned ot me).

My favorite factor about ASN broadcasts... they may blurb on the other conferences, but they ONLY talk about the conferences of the teams that are playing. I probably learned more about the Patriot league than I EVER knew, just watching one ASN game.

Had to stream the Marshall/FIU game from their web site. It was blurred. I have great internet connection so it had to be on their side.

The local station for WPB is not in HD which sucks, but this has been great. I can quick tune to a confrence game to keep an eye on Florida Atlantics next opponent.

Definately better then ESPN3.

Considering 3rd tier--excellent coverage areas and publicity!Better than most 3rd tier networks.

I had never heard that on ASN broadcasts until the UNT-USM game this week. I tried a couple of different stations (Comcast SportsNet and MASN2 or something) but they both had a slightly annoying sound.

I think I have seen more CUSA games on ASN this year and l've been much happier than in previous years games on other networks. I have the sports package on Dish and it seems like I get at least 2 or 3 CUSA games every weekend. Hopefully this keeps up for basketball season

I got 3 of the cusa games... would like to see more but it is what t is with out tv package. Its fantastic when ee are kn fox sports 1, but thats a rarity. The FAU vs Marshall game is on FS1 this weekend, and so is the WKU vs Marshall game on black Friday.

ASN is ok, better than not having TV coverage at all.

The quality I had on the Marshall/FIU game was better than ESPN3.

I was extremely impressed by the stream/quality from ASN. Not sure on the announcers just yet, but I definitely enjoyed being able to see the game in clear HD. As an unplugged user this is very important.

Your ISP could be throttling video streams to keep you from getting full HD video.

You could be paying for a great tier of internet, but they can still throttle speeds for any content they want to. It's awesome not getting the speeds that you pay for, so please be sure to vote for anyone that opposes net neutrality so this can continue.

Yep that is what I am hoping too since WKU will have a lot more basketball games...Anyone know if the coverage for football will carry over to basketball for these channels on DIrect TV Sports package?

None of us have any idea yet how widely distributed the basketball games will be. :/

60 basketball games will be broadcast. No word on distribution, but I imagine distribution will be very similar to football. Probably a lot of games on digital sub channels where the alternative is an infomercial.

I watched the WKU-FAU game in Charlotte on WCCB (Channel 18 over air). Very nice production.

The coverage has been fantastic. After years of having nothing, it is awesome to be offered something. The quality is just okay right now, but it will get there. I'm hoping that enough people are watching these games to justify them pouring more money into it. We will see in the next few years but this is significantly better than what most of us have grown used to.

Rice @ Marshall likely goes to FS1 as well.

And to borrow from other people, I like the fact that they talk CUSA and not other conferences.

Wish they'd carried that UAB - MT game last weekend. But I enjoyed the games they did show in my area. Good to finally have a consistent TV outlet for Conference USA sporting events now.
