Great video; really inspiring. The one thing that stood out was when he said that he "has a purpose to live; I don't know what it's for. It's obviously for a reason...I shouldn't be here but I am."
My daughter was in a severe roll over accident on April 27 where she was thrown from the car at 70mph. She should have been killed or paralyzed but she survived. She had a fractured skull, 3 vertebrae compression fractures, both bones broke in her arm, 2 broken ankles, multiple broken bones in her feet. He left heel was smashed to the point where 3/4 doctors wanted to amputate. The lone doctor won out and her foot was saved. Although they didn't expect her to walk again without a walker she is now walking on her own, everything healed, and is in physical therapy to strengthen her legs since she was in a wheelchair for so long. Prognosis is 100% recovery.
But the interesting thing was what she told me when she gout out of ICU...essentially the same thing that Mark Barr said. She also told me that she had this feeling months before that she feels there's another purpose for her to fulfill (in addition to being a mother to 6 & 3 year olds) but she doesn't know what it is yet.
Good comes out of tragedy if only we're open to it.
