And, somebody update me here if I've missed it, but - if we do get him - will he have been over a year from having played truly competitive, organized basketball ?

Ever been to Waco? I have...many times and my grandson goes to Baylor. There is a reason why tourism is not one of their major industries.

No, not really he has played AAU ball during the Spring/Summer. He faces better competition on the AAU circuit. Certainly versus the schedule that Lauzanne plays.

Skal is well worth the drama. I don't care how long he takes, how he/his guardians go about it...as long as he ends up in a Tiger uni, I'm happy. He's got special written all over him.

Not that it matters but I was bored and decided to look on the Hoya board. Nothing that you've posted is true. However, that was known beforehand.
