For me
1. New Mexico 2004 lost 72-8....we were a bad FCS but that was just embarrassing. Fortunately, most people don't even care, or know, about that game.

2. UNI 2005 - FCS Semi Final. The game the FCS world knows as "The Knee". Tied with 1:27 left, the ball on the 42, all time outs left and our coach decided to lose faith in the team that had come this far and make the QB take a knee(s) to run out the clock and play for a win in OT. We lost. Our PK was one of the (if not the) best PK's in FCS.
Over 400 yds of offense and he shuts that down playing to not lose; which they ultimately did 40-37. I was literally sick as a dog; partially from drinking, partly from the gut wrenching game and not being able to process what Bailiff did to this team. I have talked to several players from that squad and they didn't want to do anything after the game except kill the coach and go home. Nobody volunteered for the presser and the ones told they had to do it walked in, sat down, got up and walked out.

3. ULL 2014 - have to go with this one because it just was. I don't know who TXST put out on the field this past week but it wasn't the team I'd been watching previously. Something is seriously wrong in SM and they best get it fixed.

4. SELA 2009 - If anyone can blow a big lead, this team could. Our GS moment, I guess. We were up by 24 with 9:06 left and lost this game in OT 51-50. That win would have given us a share of the SLC title (having beaten SFA) and another playoff appearance.

Ouch.

And speaking of that:
2005- Texas State- I was one of those fans who were screaming for blood after we lost that game. Sewak got canned and He Who Shall Not Be Named was brought in, stomped on our traditions, and ditched us in the middle of recruiting.

In hindsight, I was so wrong and I regret the knee jerk reaction by Southern's athletic department.
So YOU are the one we have to blame for that four-year dumpster fire! 05-mafia

Texas State is going to catch hell from our fans this year...game week will be very bitter.

Wonder how GS fans will travel to the TxSt game? I know a few that live out that way that plan to make it.

1. Gotta be some 50-0-something like that beatdown by Miami back when the Canes were badass and we were struggling. Early 90s, I think.

2. Loss to UMASS in 1998 championship game. God, the turnovers. Eagles fumbled about 3,000 times a second. And still damn near won.

3. Loss to West Georgia back in 90s. I guess Eagles thought just because West Georgia was D-2 they could run all over them.

4. The entire 2006 season under BVG was one big WTH just happened loss.

ULM Monsoon Game
I don't know what year, 2007? Most miserable performance ever in the middle of Noah's flood....televised. Steve Roberts.

Pittsburg State
1989. 34-13 loss to a Division II team at home.

The Punt
2010 vs. Western Kentucky. Leading by 7 with 54 seconds left we bad-snapped a punt giving WKU the ball at the 22. They tied the game. We lost on a 2-point conversion in OT. Steve Roberts.

Last Year
Beaten like dogs on national television by ULL. It would have been bad even without the horrendous play-calling. Harsin surrendered before the fans did and got booed.

If we win the WKU game do we reassign Roberts. If not we probably lose Freeze and miss out on this run.

-UGA, talk about not able to compete. Worse yet, I actually had the nerve to attend that game! I left at halftime, & so were the UGA fans. I overheard one female bulldawg fan say that she could be home having sex instead she wasted an hour worth of her time. :(

1. Lopsided loss
2. gut wrenching loss
3. embarrassing loss
4. WTH just happened loss?

1. 72-14 at UT Chattanooga in 1978. According to some of our more seasoned fans, we were up 14-0 at one point. I was four at the time, so I don't really know.
2. 1975 at Western Carolina. The 20-11 loss, after we had wins over Wake Forest, East Carolina and South Carolina, cost us a bid to the Tangerine Bowl, which may have helped put us on a 30 year nomadic walk in the desert of I-AA football. We win that game, who knows where we go from there.
3. 1994 VMI at home. After beating Marshall a few weeks earlier, we spit the bit against 0-10 VMI in a game that was supposed to be our SoCon clincher, and we would've most likely secured home field advantage for the playoffs. Instead, we had to go on the road with a team that could've won the whole thing, and lost to Boise State in the second round of the playoffs.
4. 1999 in the first round of the playoffs against Florida A&M. We were 9-2 with a close loss at Auburn in the opener - a game we won everywhere but the scoreboard, and another at Furman. The 44-29 loss the Rattlers handed to us wasn't even that close. I still scratch my head over that one.

No, he probably would have gotten another contract extension.

Sorry. Scrotumus was right. In 1996, Florida beat us 62-14. In 1994, Miami beat us 56-0. To me, the Tech game this year was the most gut-wrenching because we'd come back from so far behind and then couldn't finish the deal. As to embarrassing and WTH.... I don't know. The VanGorder year would rank high on any list.
