Nah, what am I saying. It'll never happen. We would just play 2 midweek night games. At any rate, I do see us playing more midweek Nov home games in the future.
If you think about it, ESPN is not going to want to put on EMU v Miami in Nov. The better teams will be on, thus NIU v Tol is probably destined to be a Nov weekday game for awhile
At the very least it should be the first MACtion game of the year. That way both teams can get the best chance for a decent temp.
As long as one or both teams are decent, which is probably going to be the case for a while, NIU-Toledo will always be on a weeknight in November. It's the marquee conference matchup that will always bring in high ratings because people still remember that stupid game in the Glass Bowl from 3 years ago that took MACtion mainstream. Plus, for the last 5 years including this one, this game has largely determined who wins the MAC West, so it'll always be placed in the last month of the season to build up the drama.
Yes I understand...I am saying that at least ESPN should make it the first November midweek...aka MACtion game of the year.
If this game was last week we were looking at temps in the 60s in the day and 50s for kickoff.

Quote:I love how the top 20 to 30 rows in the corners are sold out. Who are buying these tickets when there is a lot of empty seats in lower rows?
What if there's a rich guy from Toledo who just buys up TONS of tickets in good sections to try and ensure an empty crowd to aid an ailing Toledo team (QB issue)? That would be ballsy. And a hardcore Toledo Mudhen!
Quote:Any guesses for what time the Black Friday game vs WMU will be at? Is this gonna be an early game like 10 a.m. as in year's past?
I doubt it. MANY of the games on Friday are "To Be Determined". I'm guessing (EST) Noon or 2PM. Possibly 3:30PM.

first of all.
Toledo and "rich guy" dont go in the same sentence.
Someone earlier mentioned NIU holding them off until the lower sections are sold.

Last year the Black Friday featured game on ESPNU was Bowling Green-Buffalo at 12:30pm CST. In 2012 it was Ohio-Kent State at 10am CST and in 2011 it was NIU-EMU at 10am CST. I think all those games decided a division. Expect a crappy timeslot.

It's really a crap shoot with November weather. I have seen truly horrible weather in the beginning of the month and bearable weather closer to the end of the month. When they schedule night games as winter approaches, they take their chances. They really do not care because those games are for the TV audience sitting at home or in a bar, not the team's fans who brave the elements.

At least those games are during the day where there is a chance for sunlight and warmer temps. I actually like the Black Friday games. Too bad we may not get one at home for a while.

Would like us to shift having the Black Friday (last game of the year) to the off years that we are not hosting the IHSA playoffs. Hopefully SF is on this with the conference.

+1 we tailgated breakfast a few years ago for the game. Empty stadium but fun atmosphere for a game the day after thanksgiving.

Yes, there is a real holiday feel in the air. Nothing better than watching a football game as the shopaholics cram into the malls.
